Summer 2023 Transfer Rumours

Derby Telegraph writer Leigh Curtis linking us as well as Derby and Blackpool, with Notts County midfielder Ruben Rodrigues. Exactly the sort of midfielder we need, however we'd have to offer him a top package to come here over the rest and Notts County as well.

 

Seen him four or five times and he's impressed in each outing. Would definitely welcome him here. He's a forward though, isn't he? Or at least according to the ever-trustworthy Wikipedia.

 

Yes it says he is, I've always thought he was a midfielder. Well we need some forwards to cover the loss of banks and release of Eisa etc.

 

Rodrigues is absolutely the calibre of signing we need to be making this summer. Proven, quality goalscoring and creative midfielder, albeit at a lower level.

I'd be surprised if he came here though. I'd expect him to go to L1 if he doesn't stay at Notts.

 

Isn't that what scouts are for? I don't think they just pull players names off the "available to loan" list, and chance their luck. But then again, who knows. I thought we had a scouting network, but perhaps that was back in the day before/during everyone started to get fired. I'd like to expect MH has at least some connections within the scouting network.

 

It is. Our recruitment has been better in the last 12 months, but far from perfect.

 

It is a bit of a conundrum when looking for new players, with there being no reserve leagues how can you ever see a non first teamer prospective signing play?
We have several players who have hardly kicked a ball in anger over the past season, how will anyone know if they could be a good signing.
This will surely apply to us as there must be plenty of good players kicking their heels elsewhere.

Smart money is on Brough from Barrow. Could be a surprise and they announce Agyei.

 

Or maybe even a real surprise, i.e. someone whose name hasn't already been rumoured.

 

Confident it will be Brough. I saw someone on twitter noticed that Brough just started following Salford City on twitter, it's the only other football club account he follows....... obviously means he's signed a 4 year deal

 

Maybe. Barrow fans seem pretty convinced we are his likely destination. Wonder if signing him will alter Ridehalghs decision. If im honest id prefer Foulds to stay.

 

Well bizarre for him to suddenly take an interest in Salford though.

 

I'll be honest, if it is Brough, I'll be pretty underwhelmed. Another steady away type of player rather than a statement of intent.

 

Not to mention he's a Carlisle lad. Boooooo!

Only thing that put's me off Brough is Sparks comments yesterday about a leaner squad. We've 4 Centre Backs and 2 Left Backs already. You would think more likely to be an attacking player if those comments are taken at face value.

 

Ridehalgh may leave and Foulds is finished in a City shirt.

 

Foulds is going to Harrogate.

 

That's assuming everyone under contract stays. Ridehalgh could well sign a deal somewhere else if the offer looks better. Foulds isn't fancied so will likely want a move. Odusina couldn't even force his way onto the bench this season, so we will likely shop him out too.

I still see us signing at least 8-10 if I'm honest.

 

I think around 8 or so. Can see Hendrie, Foulds, Odusina and Young all going.
