No u-turn, he's signed for the Gills on a season long loan.

Not sure, possibly. He certainly knew where the net was when he was playing in league 2 before though. Whether he still would ( especially in a city side), is the question.

The pre requisite of buying promotion is having someone who knows what the hell he is doing at the helm which is why we fail every year, Giving money to Sparks and Hughes is just wasting it and our time

Unfortunately Gillingham was closer to Heathrow so he didn’t have far to go to get out of the place quickly. ;)

What does the Gillingham CEO know about promotion or football OTHER than being involved in the scaffolding that away fans stand on….oh and Racecourses.

    Doh!

“Paul has many years of business and sporting experience, he was formally Assistant Chief Executive of Rochester upon Medway Council, being involved in the formation of the Unitary Authority that formed Medway Council in 1997, before moving to become Finance Director of GFC in the late 90’s, assisting the Chairman in the development of Priestfield Stadium in 2000/01 and being part of the team that oversaw the Club's first ever trip to Wembley in 1999 for the game against Manchester City, a game that still ranks historically amongst the most dramatic of play-off finals ever held.

After leaving GFC in 2001/2, Paul joined Jockey Club Racecourses as CEO, a £250m turnover business operating 15 horse racing courses within the UK. He left that role last year after almost 20 years to carry out other opportunities.”

He isn't their owner any more I believe, or if he is, than he has received significant funds from an American business partner

And regardless of the ownership, let's be honest here, that CV reads a lot better than "used to send tweets for featherstone rovers"

The CEO might not know much about football or promotion, but that isn't an issue when you have a DoF that does.

Jorge Grant would be ok. Had a very decent season at Lincoln 3 years ago - struggled in Championship with Posh and not done alot in Scotland.

Dropping to L2 level should be a doddle. On paper looks good to me (if its us in for him)

Saddens me, that yet again it looks like panic purchases on the last day. I know it’s mayhem and lots of upheaval and opportunities arising last minute and so on, but I thought we brought in a transfer team to avoid all this. We’re going to be sweating bricks during the countdown when we’ve sent x amount of players out on loan, and pants down when players either back out of a deal, or rock up for their medical with an hour remaining. Same each season, so I don’t know why I’m expecting progression, but it annoys me that we hear all such guff about being more organised and focused, when in reality it’s appearing we aren’t at all. Please suprise me City, by actually being proactive this transfer window, seeing what us arm chair managers can see, and sign some players that are not just benchwarmers or finger in the air untried players (loads to choose from historically, but Samuels sums it up in a nutshell). I know he’s not scoring atm, but imagine if Cook gets injured. He looks like he’s carrying something (not just July’s Mykonos kebab), and we’d be totally fooked if we have to have Smith or Derbyshire as the only ones up top. Let’s win a window for once!

We have brought in seven already they have said for ages theclian signings where going to be at the end of the window. It’s obvious Gordon is the number one target but palace injuries have held that up
