I must admit my post was negative on the lad and like all new players we wait and see him ourselves on the pitch and the formation Hughes plays him in.

I hope the lad succeeds and my comment is proved totally wrong.

Don’t read too much into my comment as being “ that’s it” in terms of flexibility. I was using them as an example . We still need another 3 minimum of maximum quality if we shift at least 2 current squad fillers on.

Having two players that can play in two positions each as cover saves two wages if compared against two players for every role. The latter is just not feasible if we want better quality.
It’s difficult to put into words ?

Speaking of funny ones... Osadebe, clearly a lovely lad but I have no idea what his actual best position is.

Couldn't agree more, but chatting to him at the POY awards, He says No.10 is his best position

    Not sure he has one.

Know he had his injury but I've seen absolutely zero from him to suggest he's a good player. Not even a hint.

But if 3/5 at the back doesn't work, we're knackered till January and the season is probably gone. We need options for various systems. At least 1 more wide forward is essential.

Left wing isn't Walkers best position and Smith is a centre forward.

Right and left of cook in the line up Smith has played on the right wing before and Chapman on the left. It’s 433

I know it was a bad injury but when he came back he couldn’t do the basics well. Looked so poor, understandably some would add… but if you take comments from Walsall fans on him I was mistified that we paid money for him.

He looked an absolute menace in those few minutes before he got injured but has looked a shadow of that player since coming back. Hopefully some further rest and recuperatation and a good pre season will see him back to the player he looked like he was going to be, but I'm not convinced that will happen.

Agree FB, there is only one position for Jamie Walker and that's No.10 behind Cook.
If it isn't broken, don't fix it!!

I think though, without a pre season after an injury like that we were never going to see anything but him just trying to get some sharpness.

The time to really judge him will be the first 10/15 games of this year when he's had chance to get properly fit and is starting on a level playing field with everyone else.

Omari Patrick turned down a 2 year deal at Carlisle as he isn't happy at the club. They had their fan forum last night too and Patrick and their Captain Feeney are leaving. Patrick turning down there deal as he wants a guarantee he wont be used as a striker, only wants to play out wide.

.........Someone did say an old face was returning :p

For seven minutes in the opening game of last season he looked like a L2 version of Paul Pogba on top of his game ( also remember cracking goal v Sunderland in friendly)
He had a great engine, full of attitude and used the ball well
    I was really impressed.

I felt it was rushed bringing him back, as he did have a minor set back.
He also was a understandably a little shy in the tackle.
Add to this the roles he was asked to do in the bit-part games he came on as sub, were something he clearly wasn't in tune with .

I'm happy to give this lad the benefit of any doubt.
With a pre-season behind him, and confidence his leg has 100% healed, I'm hoping we'll see those first 7 minutes again throughout 23/24.
I'd also like to see that attitude right in the mix along side KM
