McDonald was a really classy player pre health issues, lots of good comments from Exeter fans. If we can get legs and a bit of quality around Cook/McDonald/Smallwood I like the look the team.

 

Sounds like Cole Stockton is on the verge of joining Burton, after turning down Lincoln. The twitter nonsense accounts had us and Carlisle linked also, cant imagine we were ever really close in the race. However, it could mean one less club who were published in the Portsmouth article have dropped out of the race to sign Dan Agyei. I say could as Burton do have a thin squad as it stands especially up front after releasing past their best Louis Moult & Sam Winnall.

In other L2 news, Stockport look like they are close to signing Billy Chadwick from Hull on a free. He scored 11 in 20 in the NLN for Boston this season, was rumoured to be signing for Grimsby until Stockport came knocking. After their overspending this season, it was thought that they'd have to scale back the spends but there's whispers in the County fanbase that Madden, Sarcevic and Collar could all leave this summer to free up some space. Collar has been touted to go up the pyramid with Middlesbrough and Blackburn thought to be suitors with him being the most likely of the 3 to leave. Antoni Sarcevic could be moved on due to money but also falling down the order this season, with just 19 starts. Chadwick could be the man to fill in for Madden who they also believe is looking for his next move. Madden scored in just 1 of his last 19 L2 appearances, with fans noticing his little burst of pace he had in the NL seemed to have vanished over the season.

And unless Gillingham launch the chequebook at another player, they are set to miss out on Alfie May as Charlton have agreed a fee with Cheltenham for the player.

 

Stockport have also signed Ibou Touray from Salford on a free. Decent player.

 

I'd take Madden here, looked very busy against us in the defeat at home, thought his off the ball movement was really good, which in turn freed up space for Wooton, as it could with Cook here.

" It had been hoped that we would keep him for a bit longer even if in some form of coaching format as that is the way it appears he wants to go and given his age. Big factor was location as he is based up North and think it was more of a signing to help our current manager.
Very good player to watch though, and was still able to boss games at League One, and help our young midfielders with his experience. regarding his legs, I don't think he has ever been the box to box player, although he did chip in with a few goals in under 10 games for us. As long as you can keep him fit I would say that is the key. For Bradford he should be an asset as long as you don't setup to bypass him for 90mins."

 

Im not convinced. Stockton is a target man and Agyei is a wide forward or left winger by trade. Not one or the other so no reason not to be in for both.

 

From reading up on his season, it peaked within the weeks after that game and he barely looked a threat in the months after. Scored just the 7 for the rest of the campaign after our match in October. Looking at the Stockport forum, the general feeling was he wasn't the threat at this level as he used to be, legs slowly went as the year went on.

 

Me neither, that's why i said 'could'. I think if I was the Burton manager I'd still want both. Their squad is so thin in terms of size and experience, depends of course on their budgets as well. They are also thought to be wanting to go back in for Umerah from Hartlepool, they tried in Jan but Pool weren't budging.

 

Yep, if Stockton signs they might well look at their deals on the table and see where money might be better used. Reckon they will be one of the clubs that depend on cheaper loans to pad out the squad.

They've got higher division football to offer though and that should be a very large carrot for players.
