Possibly. Or does it tell us that League 2 is a better standard than the bottom half of the SPL?
I bet the wages in League 2 are significantly higher than the bottom 6 in the SPL are paying.

Generally, yeah. Although some players do sign short term deals, depending on the situation.

But yeah I imagine all our offers at this point will be in full years.

100%. Yes I wanted Williams, but if McDonald offers the same quality in allowing us to transition the ball quicker, I’m more than happy. In fact, given he played L.1 last season and Exeter fans seemed keen on him staying, perhaps could argue he’s a better option than Williams. By default he is if rumours are true, in that he actually wants to play for us!

I genuinely don’t care who we sign, known/big name or not. Young or old. I just want the right calibre of player to get us out of this damn league! The signing of Taylor has been slated and yet again fans choosing to judge when barely through the door. He’s tall, he’s experienced. If he improves our dismal defensive record and goals from set pieces then I’m happy.

All this said, will be chuffed to see Aygei sign if happens. We defo need some newness in the ‘bums off seat’ department!

And he will win balls bouncing about in the middle. He’s 6ft 4 I believe , not 5ft 5 Olly. ;)

I wanted Williams but we need someone regular in the field. Not sure Williams could have given us that with his injuries in the past...

    Mcdonald

Pros - big lad, experienced, good footballer, good pedigree

    Cons - age, pace

If he was 27 and had pace he wouldnt be playing L2 football. As simple as that.

Fair comment,I’d be pretty well chuffed if we did land him and probably offers more than Williams ?

I agree, he will be 35 in November, so I hope if he does sign it’s a one year deal with the option for another year.

A lot of BT members seem preoccupied with our defensive record. Why? Yes we conceded from set pieces, but our overall defensive record was far from dismal!

We conceded 43 goals. Only Leyton, Stevenage, Northampton and Stockport conceded fewer.

Five teams scored more than us and three others exactly the same, and that is with the League’s Top Scorer playing for us.

I want to see City score more goals, concede slightly fewer, but the emphasis must be on finding some other players to share the burden of scoring. I anticipate Cook will struggle to score the same number of goals next season. Only Dennis and Hoskins scored over 20 last season. Stevenage and Orient’s top league scorers only got 17 each, yet they out scored us as teams.

Goal scoring must be the priority. We need to be able to get a goal difference of about 25+, this season it was 18+ and that was with Cook’s magnificent tally.

Whilst I don’t disagree it’s somewhat overstated that we lacked goals last season, we scored the same as Orient and Stevenage but conceded more. Yes we can’t rely on Cook getting 30 so the goals need to be spread out more but it’s unlikely we’d score many more as I’d be shocked if Cook or any other individual repeats the feat.

Stats are often too simplistic, you can score 5 goals a game for 5 games and technically lose, another team can only score 5 in 5 and return 15 points, the points is all that matters.

If it was true it really would be a great combo given Bradford's history with film. Maybe we fans can create some noise.

Quite possibly will cost us considerably less as well for the same sort of quality. Win win.
