I don’t blame Sparks one bit for countering Barrows statement. Many fans would use Barrow’s statement as a stick to beat him and the club with and as he stated it’s simply is not correct. Good for him. Fighting for the club and the fact Barrow are leveraging our name incorrectly.

Imagine if that Zanzala bangs say 5 in 5 in and we’re struggling to score, it’s naive to think the City fans wouldn’t care then as you say it’d be an easy stick to beat him with no doubt about it. The Barrow chairman shouldn’t have mentioned us by name, can’t say I’ve seen it before and it came across as some sort of strange brag. Would we see clubs acting like this higher up, no chance.

 

I think it all feels like a mountain out of a molehill scenario. I can't see what was wrong with what the Barrow chairman said, if anything it was a backhanded compliment that we are a big fish in this division. I agree with inspector on this one, not sure why as a club we've turned it into a *@?$ measuring exercise. Sometimes less is more.

Maybe so. Im not a Rashford fan currently either! That said, different positions as Rashford was also taken as that 3rd striker. Lingard was more vying with Sterling, Sancho, Grealish, Saka and Foden. And despite other attacking mids/forwards like Barnes and Greenwood out through injury he still couldnt make the final 26.

 

Each to their own but I’d be embarrassed if Sparks came out and said we’d out muscled a Bolton or Sunderland to a player, fair enough say we beat off competition everyone does it to make it sound good but it was unprofessional imo and if a club we’d said it to showed us up for it you can guarantee our fans would take the piss out of Sparks for it. It was DMAC style to answer back how he did and I don’t mind it. The size of the issue is irrelevant imo.

Well with the money from yesterdays game which would be around £80K extra from the 4000 extra seats sold we could add a little to it and buy Bahamboula from Oldam who would be a great addition to the squad and a great fit to the way we now play

 

I never said he should be in the squad, I said at the time when he was lightening up the Championship and Jesse was rotting in the MU reserves doing f all I would rather have.out of the two.

Lets agree he had something to offer and is doing it at a higher level.

I have no idea whether he is a player Del boy is interested in or not but if he is, yesterday won't have done any harm in selling the club to him.

Seeing as at least 3 teams that we definitely know of(Stockport,Chesterfield and Wrexham) and probably others are throwing serious money at going up and only 2 actually go up one of them is going to be very disappointed.

 

There's always a surprise team too that make it from just having a good core of players playing above their station. Trying to find the article, but I read last week that there are at least 10 NL clubs that have bigger budgets than L2 clubs, with 4 of those clubs having a comparative L2 top 10 budget for this season, assuming the 3 you mentioned above and maybe Notts Co? Just from club size wise.

Think just due to the money in that league as well as the jump in standard that division has had in the past 5 years or so, along with most the clubs in that league now full time clubs rather than even a decade ago when half the NL were part time, I wouldn't be surprised if they changed it to 3 up 3 down in the coming years. Whenever I've caught a game on BT or one of the teams who have a good cup run, it's not longer mainly a 442 and hoof it league, with a heavier CB or a 40 year old former league striker with a bit of a gut not just goal hanging. Some really good talent down there.
