Apart from Paudie?

Unless he dramatically improves this season I'd most definitely lump him in with the other two.

 

He seemed to be much better with Canavan at the side of him, Canavan got injured, after that he was a tad meh!

 

Oh, I know you don't like Paudie.

I think he's a good quality defender, personally.

 

Shite. L5 out of 8. A couple of drubbings too.

 

At this level certainly, the O’Connors made a terrible partnership but that’s not because they were terrible individually. Paudie improved beside Canavan and if you put him beside a prime Davies like McArdle had then you’d see him improve tenfold imo.

 

Agree JB but he needs to keep control of that temperament. That should be easier to do if we are winning games but I thought he was fortunate not to be red carded on a couple of occasions last season.

 

It's definitely vital that the whole team stops giving away silly free kicks around the area. I don't think we were too aggressive, just clumsy and ill-disciplined.

 

It's also definitely vital that he wins the odd header in our own box when we do give the free kicks away.

After all, that should be one of his primary responsibilities.

 

Hopefully having a fair few big lads this season will help with that, and POC and ROD can stop us bleeding goals in the same manner week in, week out.

It really shouldn't have been that hard to address.

 

I agree with the sentiment of the post but Paudie will still have to win his individual battles. That's the part I thought he struggled with most last year, although there are mitigating circumstances so fingers crossed.

He'll certainly be in the first XI at present so I'm looking forward to seeing the potential that you see in him realised

 

I wish we had 30 year old solid pro like ex-championship or something playing alongside him. He could learn a lot. He's still young for a defender and playing in poorly organised teams isn't always easy for those at the back especially when young

 

Any news on the striker we have agreed a deal for?? Nothing given away from the ITKs....

! wonder why, maybe woodhouse are using their facilities so city can't use them. maybe derek wanted the team to do some running for fitness? Either way i hope we can build/purchase our own training centre later down the line.

 

@Bradford End said we were very close to signing a striker. "all but done" were the words he used if i recall correctly.

 

Think it’s just for the running track, guessing that’s the nearest one of a decent quality.
