It was compulsory in the late '60's - early '70's.

I dunno. You'd have to ask Mark Brown - it was his team. Maybe Tas had had a run of bad form.

He certainly got his eye back in with that innings.
    Pure power batting.

My Uncle Bill had a 1940s/50s precursor to the test match game. The pitch was square, with aluminium edges that slotted in together to stretch the pitch flat. There was a metal chute for bowling and the 'bat' was a metal pendulum swung from a frame, which you operated by pulling a string. You could move the frame from side to side to glance the ball bearing in different directions. You could get wicked spin by pushing down on the side of the ball bearing as you pinged it down the chute.
I inherited it and used to play it with my lad. Unfortunately some of the pieces are now missing. i've no idea how that happened but it's a real shame 'cos it was a cracking game.

Yes, he wasn't hanging about, was he? Five sixes and two fours in an innings of 55 is genuine T20 stuff.

My drug of choice in the early 80s was draught tetleys, and thanks to the pub hunt, got hundreds of tee-shirts to prove it.

Loving this thread but it's sure to get moved. We've gone from Subbuteo to Carters to Owzat to "interesting substances" to the Tetley pub hunt. For us of a certain age its growing up in Bradford. Keep it up!

I drank a fair few pints of that as well.
But the advantage of d*pe, sorry, interesting substances, is that it doesn't give you a hangover. I got properly parpo-ed every night before my final exams - a great way to relax after a hard day revising - and I got a First.

Excellent stuff guys. Brings back all good memories from my youth.
Forget facetube and twattering and instergram (that's not the grams you bought back in the day Offcom ).. the kids of today don't know what they're missing.

I dropped in another Eric Hall film in the nostalgia section. Great watch on whippet racing in Bingley back in the day.

    Cheers for the memories

The thread now bears little relevance to the original topic or to City in particular. It's better to continue discussing the many issues in General Chat

The only question to be raised on the issue of dope is .... did you inhale? ;)
