At this moment id go staying up but We do need to keep Payne and the other loan players

 

I hope Hopkin enjoys his pint tonight. After all the effort he’s put into this team, he’s finally seeing the fruits of his labour.

6 weeks ago, I’d have said we need 6 or 7 players, after today we need to strengthen the defence and try keep the key loanees.

 

Big job indeed How. Think 50 is optimistic 54 in my view but I can tell you behind the scenes morale is up and all pulling with Julian. On the field?, well you've seen for yourself, long way to go but progress being made.

 

7pts from possible last 12 in the league, 2 clean sheets included, things look alot better. Keep that form for 2nd half of season and we will be mid table no problem but we can't think we have turned the corner and it will be a breeze from here on in.

 

Absolutely spot on. I’d even throw the Shrewsbury game into that. We have to look to take advantage of the home games and at very least look to avoid defeat at Rochdale. Then let’s see where we are.

This confidence is exactly what we needed and it’s showing in performances. But let’s not get ahead ourselves, we’re still in the bottom four with a hell of a lot to do.

I’m just thankful we brought Hopkin in and got rid of Edin Voldemort when we did. Waiting to do either post Christmas would have been a disaster.

 

Not cashing out

 

Ask again after the Accrington game on New Year’s Day. Two of the next three games are against fellow strugglers and Accrington’s wheels might have come off, they haven’t won in the league since October. Take 6-9 points from those four games and the great escape is on. Lose against Scunthorpe, Sunderland and Rochdale and heads might drop before the transfer window opens.

 

Ive chucked £20 quid on us to finish top half. 14/1 is a fair price. We are 11 points short at the moment but, Feb aside, we have a good run of games (particularly the last month of the season) where we have good opportunities to put together winning sequences.

Not lucky enough to have a Sky Bet account but would have backed us to stay up if I had (or if anyone else offered the market). Keeping the loan players will be important but at the price you take a chance.

 

I voted staying up but that’s based on our home form and the next few games we have over the next couple of weeks. Enough points from those should take the pressure off to pick up the rest from the remaining games then with hopefully a few new signings to call on too.

Games like today, much like Luton away other week, doesn’t matter so much if we get beat. More about how we recover and then the unbeaten run we go on from here.

 

Based solely on today's performance, then you would have to say, Yes we will stay up.
However, I will feel a lot more optimistic if we can bring in some quality at the back in January, especially central defence

Dunno if anyone else is still looking to back us to stay up but if you do its worth emailing Bet 365 and asking for a price.... they just gave me 2/1 on the proviso the bet was placed before today’s game.

I think we’ve got a chance - whereas a month ago I didn’t think we had any chance at all.

The next month will be huge - if we can take 4 or more points from the next two games, which we’re capable of, then we’re on a good footing.

I still think defensive reinforcements and another striker are essential.

No what you do is call the loan player in and let him know he isn't signing after all. That generates great team morale and builds for the year ahead ...

nothing has changed to be fair. A few need to leave and we still need at least 2 defenders. Other than that I'm over the moon with the way we're turning things around.
