So we are basically running a club where our playing budget is considerably less than our back room activity? Plus Sparks increased our revenue to the tune of £8.3 million and still it is not enough to push our players budget up?

Bottom line appears that we have too much non football expenditure, hence we can't spend 55% of our income on the playing side.

Last year we made a loss which according to the club was because it had to pay off Adams' contract and we overspent the playing budget! Since then we've earned an extra £1m in commercial income. I would have expected most of that to have been directed to the playing side of the business given that it's the fundamental reason why the club exists. That doesn't appear to be the case.

The cynic in me is starting to think that last season's overspend on the playing budget is being recouped this season as part of the club's sustainability mantra.

I’ve been screaming about this all summer.., record profits and yet signings were all underwhelming. Nothing made sense with the summer. I was called negative for saying I think the budget had been cut and it has its clear. How can people still support Rupp and Sparks I just don’t get how they have any supporters out there!!!

Just wait till the january transfer window comes around to see our ambition for the new manager

We get that anyway from Rupp. And I think in the case of Sparks, he realises that empty cliches and soundbites won’t do when you’re hiring your 5th manager in 3 years.

I'm not sure that the proposed "New Deal" will change much either

Maybe it’s Taylor Swift not Hugh Jackman who is definitely buying us , apparently been knocked back by the Magpies. You heard it here first. (Interesting aside, she went to high school just down the road from me, I even reffed some of her school’s games).

Read this morning Taylor Swift is a billionaire. Fair play to her, but I couldn't name or recognise one of her songs

"Players who consider themselves League One. Some even higher."

I know that's the players, but just shows the delusion within the club.

If Sparks is going to speak I would really like to hear his views on not accepting mediocrity, quality over quantity and with these points in mind who the hell sanctioned our summer recruitment policy?!
As CEO Ryan, is this too much to ask from the supporters who are the lifeblood of the club!
If we had an owner who was remotely interested in football then he would be demanding these answers - but we all know the issue here
What a shambles we are on the playing front, irrespective of whether we can muster a comeback against the mighty Sutton

It does more than just balance the books imho. Sure if you have gone crazy in the PL and don't get back up immediatly you can get into trouble but if you have been a bit more restrained you get at least two seasons where it is a big advantage . The very reason the parachute payments have ballooned so much is because the yoyo clubs know what an advantage it is over the rest of the Championship clubs and they will make more parachute payments a requirement to vote for other Premier League changes. Challenging these clubs is tough, it either takes a massive financial risk or it takes everything else being perfectly run with smart recruitment
