We could just sell the whole of Bradford to the Saudis, we've got the infrastructure of Mosques and shawarma shops

    Spot on.

There are plenty of other clubs around us, and below us in the Conference, with committed owners and ambitions. If we don't at least keep pace with this then we will fall further imo. We spend, mostly, year after year watching 'smaller' clubs sail past us and up in L1.

If Ryan Sparks can't see that we want better than a relatively well-paid footballer just getting the ball and banging it blindly up field, then he's not fit to be the CEO of a football club. I'll spell that bit out, I can go to my local 9th tier club, pay £5 and then watch the ball being banged up field. The product is poor because the whole process behind providing it is flawed.

An honest question what should Ryan do when the new deal is put before him with regards where Bradford City see themselves for the next 25 years ?.

Yes it certainly spoilt us. We watched football back in the day it was ok and enjoyable. Once we tasted the good life it had been miserable since we fell down the leagues.

    Just out of interest Jon
You said watching a lower budget side was not for you
Since 2000 City have gone backwards in almost every season apart from a few seasons between 2013 and 2017
If you are not wanting to watch the present bunch of non-achievers what exactly has pushed you over the edge
The reason I will buy a season ticket next year is that (even with a smaller budget) they may just walk away with L2 even if mid table is more likely

One of the worst things about our predicament is the division of fans into various camps. I can’t stand the atmosphere at VP atm.

Another 25 years is a huge commitment Broncs. If the Ground really is the millstone around the club’s neck that Sparks says it is then he is going to have to negotiate us a better/shorter deal? To his credit, he is on good terms with Gibb now, so in his list of successes and failings, that is a big tick.

The big complication is the emotional attachment to VP and the upset leaving would cause many.

If we were any other club I think we’d be off in a flash. I think the club will probably stay but we need to try get the terms more in our favour this time.

I’m no expert on commercial leases, but are break clauses built in? Can the term be any period?

The pension fund have made enough off us now to reward Gibbs risk, so anything they make from a new lease is a bonus.

I'm not sure how the new lease would be worded, would it be the club signing up on a 5 year lease and reviewed after every 5 years, I would like to think Gibb would lower our rent but how does that leave him with regards the financial return to the pension fund.
I'm not sure the actual rent is a milestone around the clubs neck, the stadium maybe with regards the upkeep of £1mill + but that will always be our responsibility as that's a part of the lease Julian signed to.
If Rupp is sticking around I would have hoped he might have made a cash offer to Gibb to buy the ground out right, it then becomes his asset, he then rents it back to the football club at a reduced rate win win his club don't fork out as much for rent giving the club giving the club more income for the player budget, he has rent coming from the club which he can use to pay off the money he raised to buy the stadium, God forbit but if he was around long enough similar to the pension fund he would get a very good return on his initial out lay.

Any Commercial/industrial lease is like that (ive signed a few) essentially you're leasing the shell of the building/structure.
They're a very different animal to a personal household/property rent.

It's not watching a lower league side I object to, it's watching a club go through the motions with poorly laid out plans, no succession planning at all, and no medium to long term aims or strategies.

You should’ve seen it at both Colchester and Swindon. Grown men in their 30’s and beyond almost coming to blows due to differing opinions on how poor our useless “team” were playing

I keep following them, but I absolutely hate some of the shite we have playing for us. There are not many likeable characters in the squad at all, underachieving scum bags and it boils my piss, pardon my French

Hopefully I won’t be this resentful at 5pm but I very much doubt it!

I just wanna expand on this having thought about it.

It isn't THIS season that is the problem. It's having zero confidence in NEXT season that is the issue.
