Barrow started well last season and were in and around the top 7 for the first 10 games or so but finished 22nd. I think they'll do better than that this year but don't think they'll be troubling the top 7 come the business end of the season.

 

Not concerned at all just think there was a lot of frustration at conceding that late Hughes ain’t a dummy he will know there are issues and he will know things ain’t working yet ................ just think we need at least 10 games to view the bigger picture ........... I am sure a win on Saturday will change a few people’s attitudes ............. I just had a feeling though that we would get off to a slow start so not overly supprised at the moment ......... I think for the next month or so we are gonna get a few of these games where we are off the pace ............. but we have to be patient folk thinking that we would turn up and walk this league need to realise it’s gonna be one big battle to get out of here

I'd like to see Angol go back to playing the target man role. He was terrific in that position at the end of last season. The ball sticks with him, unlike when Cook plays the back to goal role. His close control, quick turning and ability to link play with nearby attacking midfielders causes defenders no end of problems. Because of his hamstring issues I think his days as a wide striker, running at defenders are gone. The central role suits him much better now.

 

I have to agree about your criticism of our play so far, I think you are spot on. However, I'm also reassured the management team know what they are doing. MH's post match comments from Doncatser and Barrow were spot on. His observations about what we didn't do echoed what a lot of the fans have been saying.

Knowing MH and team have identified these issues I'm sure they will be working on systems which provide more of a threat in the final third. It may take time but fingers crossed the team becomes more cohesive and threatening up top.

Evans, a proper league 2 manager who would have snapped our hands off for the job p*ssing the league at Stevenage, but we went for fame.

Still, many of those who are firmly anti-Evans were also pro WAGMI, so maybe they'll pipe down in the future now they are seeing their views being so comprehensively shown up.

 

I hate SE with a passion shared by most, but hats off to him, he's taken a very poor Stevenage side and put them top of the league. He's fat, he's odious and he's thoroughly obnoxious, but he does know how to pull together a league two side, even if it is only for one season.

 

Behave. No manager had ever changed a game plan after 10 minutes unless a sending off or injury forced.it. They might tweak positions slightly if someone is having a bad time but heck you give a player more than 10 minutes before deciding he's having a bad game

I cannot stand the prick but to get Stevenage on that many points already is one hell of a job considering there where probably one of the favourites for the drop

 

As you say in the bottom 4 at the finish of last season, like him or loathe Evans he's doing a good job at Stevenage although it's early day the 3 - 0 score line did not give a true reflection of the game when Stevenage came to Valley Parade the other week.

 

Yes as @Idlebantam says above I would be a hypocrite if I said I'd like him at Valley Parade I'm happy with Sparkie but without a doubt he's getting results, I honestly believe going long and getting the ball into the oppositions box playing the % game can be successful in this league, not pleasing on the eye but if it gets you out of this league sometimes needs must.

 

Nah, they will blow up around November and end up out of the top seven.

Hughes style of management and the way he sets his team up looking back at his first 29 games in charge would yield us 74 points over a full season.
Given that we have improved the stats this season on top of the games he was in charge of last season then 80 points is looking possible.
Where would that leave us??
