I'm quite happy with hughes so far. we aren't perfect and there are definite problems, but he's trying to get us playing the right way and with Gent has brought some good young players in who look like they might even have some resale value if they kick on. I think the HMS piss the league stuff is always just stupid and needlessly puts pressure on people to deliver on an unrealistic target, so im happy with him keeping us there or thereabouts whilst playing some entertaining football.

Hughes knows what is expected from his team and so far we're looking good for a top 7 place obviously we would prefer a top 3 finish but promotion is our aim both Hughes and Sparks have made that very clear.
New season new manager/players fans will always get excited with regards the coming season, not sure Hughes will be getting too worried with regards thexseason so far.

    Played 29
    Won 12
    Drawn 9
    Lost 8

    Goals for 38
    Goals against 27

    42% win
    31% draw
    27% loss

    45 points out of a possible 87

Hughes style of management and the way he sets his team up looking back at his first 29 games in charge would yield us 74 points over a full season.
Given that we have improved the stats this season on top of the games he was in charge of last season then 80 points is looking possible.
    Where would that leave us??

    I concur.

HMS Piss the League is for sides that have momentum.

    We're Bradford City.

Almost every season we seem to make a standing start - you don't win races by playing catch up.

How we handle this season, Mark Hughes, and the transition to the next gaffer is going to be the difference between whether there is any confidence whatsoever in Rupp and Sparks.

If we, as a club, don't get anything out of having Hughes at the club, we need to oust the pair of them - fast.

At worst, we should be using this as an opportunity to get our house in order and build, build, build.

Any more resets, we riot (lol, kidding - kinda).

80 would be top end of the play offs if not auto spaces. think this year with how competitive the league is i would say it would get us 4th or 5th.

which as an aside to get us from 14th up ten places is a massive achievement.

to me SparkieBall is a more refined version of McCallBall instead of going forward and attacking continually the ball is kept until an opportunity arises, move forward with purpose. the fact we have the 2nd fewest goals conceded does say something. that being said if we conceded 6 less goals we would have nine more points (36) and we would be second.. or if we scored 6 more goals... so improvement to be had either way.

Can we base our predictions on both last season and the 13 league games so far this season I'd say not, he can only be judged on what his team are doing currently, which I'm not too disappointed with at the moment.

I wouldn't be disappointed with 74 points in 1st full season but think we will achieve more.
We just need to up our win % by 5% to stand a chance of play offs never mind top 3.

Sorry that should be 16 games this season.

If we continue that sort of points return and we'll have well have 70+.

Exactly, I would love top 3 but would be happy with just getting out of the division.

I know it's self evident but the only way to guarantee getting out of this division is to finish in the top 3 at the end of the season. Getting promoted after finishing in the play-offs remains a one-in-four lottery. If promotion really is our aim this season, we should be targeting a top 3 finish with all that that means.

oh for sure but I think there's a difference between having top 3 as the serious target vs chanting championes week in week out if you catch my drift

All fair enough, but is it really entertaining? I don't find many of our games entertaining, tbh.

I understand the point you're making. Chanting 'champions' or 'we're going up' doesn't cut the mustard with me and doesn't get the club promoted. I simply want to see and hear the club itself declaring a serious intent of achieving automatic promotion this season. And I don't just mean saying the right things in public but rather making important changes in the makeup of the squad by introducing more quality during the next transfer window. With the squad as it is, imo we're not quite good enough to establish ourselves in the top 3. The return of Walker in particular may well help matters but he may not be enough on his own. We need a bit more quality.

I think finishing in the bottom two gets you out of this division as well. ;)

I find them a hell of a lot more entertaining than games under any of the previous 4 or 5 managers we've had before.

The bar was set lower than a snakes belly by the likes of Bowyer and Adams. Certainly feel a lot more positive turning up to Valley Parade these days. We are still some way off being a dominant side but the signs are positive.

Personally I also feel a lot more positive myself and I can see what we are trying to achieve, but I do get FBs point. Apart occasional attacking flourishes it can get blooming tedious watching the ball going back and forth across the back 4 (5) until eventually the full back gets trapped in the corner.

Gotta trust the process. I too get a little frustrated at times, especially as i can see where the problem is. But i'm happy with this than watching route one. January comes, we need a central midfielder, unless Hughes completely trusts Ryan East.

He looks the part a velly smart man and is keepy uppppppppy is second to none,,, Adams would have weighed the ball and complained about the stitching. Bowyer would have used it as a pillow....
