That was atrociously bad. I had a feeling we’d lose today but I didn’t expect that.

The tone was set in the first minute when two of our back 4 didn’t do their job. And it followed from there. The whole thing stank, from minute one. Every player and member of the coaching staff should hang their heads in shame. As should those who’ve not delivered on the additions this team badly needs.

Pathetic in every way.

 

A team that lets in so many goals so tamely, i’m afraid the writing is on the wall, despite our brief upturn. A hell of a lot to do, feels like back to square one.

 

Did Hopkin get a knock on the head since Accrington? He seems to insist on not playing wing backs who actually play wing back. Last week McGowan, this week Percival, when we have Connor Wood on the bench. Percival and McGowan are not going to get forward, which explains the 1-2 shots with had in two weeks. When we play wing backs who belong there, we score at least 1-2!

Then we have the gameplan which seems to revolve around a target man we haven't even got - unless the players exist in an alternate reality where their numerous hoofs upfront actually result in us keeping the ball as opposed to it ending in the back of our net 30 seconds later. Doyle hasn't won a header all season but we just hoof it. Even at kick offs when we start with the ball, we insist on smashing it upfield and letting Southend start with the ball, you would've thought after 3 times of it happening we wouldn't do it again, but you bet your ass we did.

Their striker, 39, is better than our two upfront put together, who can't win a header or control a ball between them. Terrible performance, terrible tactics, and a terrible result, what a surprise! Can't wait until we play another CB out of position and lose again next week. Or maybe letting in 7 goals in 2 games might change Hopkins mind?

Worryingly, the amount of money it would take to keep us up would probably outweigh his losses if we went down. On the balance of risk, it would be a wiser investment for him to try stay up with what we've got.

Even if we do spend big, paying over the odds wages would likely upset the cart for the players already on lower contracts.

Hard to begin to describe how bad that was, it was as bad as anything Michael Collins or McCall served up at their worst. Completely outplayed for the whole ninety minutes. Had to force myself to stay from about 20 minutes in because it was inevitable what was going to happen.
Be interesting to hear HopkinS take on it, he washed his hands of last weeks shit show. Can’t do that this week, needs to explain that crap we witnessed today to the fans who saw us playing a completely different type of football two games ago.
