Time Starmer grew a set of balls and kicked Abbott out of the Labour Party. People like her are a cancer in politics, even now we have a movement standing up for her abhorrent remarks saying well shes been racially abused. I think the kids these days call this whataboutery, trying to defend someone for doing the same thing she so despises would make me laugh if it wasn't so hypocritical. Who in their right mind could vote for this absolute shambles of a party i'll never know.

 

The thought that we could have had Corbyn as Prime minister and Abbott as Home Secretary still sends shivers ...

 

Its clear we need a change of government and yet this shower of shite is the only viable alternative. The fact the likes Abbott have been in politics so long is a marker to just why Uk politics is fundamentally broken.

 

Vote REFORM , only chance of getting owt done, Tories are/have been shocking but Labour can never be the answer ....

How anybody could write a letter like that and think it was a great point - let alone send it in to a newspaper - is shocking to me.

All the battles that the Labour Party have fought to show that racism/antisemitism isn't an underlying part of their beliefs and one of their long standing members does something like that? It's just plain weird.

 

It was embarrassing watching Tony Blair's former political secretary John McTernan trying to defend Abbott on GB news this morning.

Basically he said this letter she wrote should not be allowed to overshadow her great political record and Starmer should forgive her and not sack her.

 

That guy is unbelievable and puts to bed the lefties suggestions on here that GBNews and TalkTV are pure right wing, they challenge the left by talking to them and showing balance...

 

Yes McTernan gets plenty of opportunities to peddle his left wing nonsense each week on GB news platform.

 

I can't believe there is a large section of the public trying to defend Abbott with that phrase 'whataboutery'. 'But Diane has been subject to awful racism' like thats some sort of defence for her utter stupidity. The very same people who chastise us folk for pulling up Alistair Campbell on twitter for pointing out his 'misdemeanours' years ago when he attacks others. As someone whose wifes family lost a relative at Auschwitz i find this kind of racism points scoring attempt by Abbott as not only bizarre but utterly repulsive. But then shes built her whole political career as a one trick pony, she has no other cards in her hand. Contradicting the agenda they claim to uphold.

 

My wife is Irish and she has been subject to blatant racism many times since settling in England. But that's not as bad as the racism black people suffer according to Abbott because my wife is white.

As for the good Jewish people, what on earth have they done wrong for the Labour party's simmering anti semitism views that just don't go away.

My grandad came over here from Ireland many moons ago and suffered badly from anti Irish sentiment, my wifes family had to leave Germany in 1938 despite generations of them being from the country. Yet this seems to escape Abbott. Forget the pathetic apology, she knew exactly what was going through her head when she wrote that 'draft'. I'd actually feel sorry for her for the stick she gets if she was anyone else. But she has brought this all on herself, shes made a very successful career out of racism and the irony of what is happening to her is delicious.

 

Anyone who thinks that Jews and Irish people haven't or don't experience racism is talking nonsense. Comparing it to prejudice against people with ginger hair is insulting. There's no doubt that Diane Abbott has been subjected to a lot of unfounded racist abuse over the years, but that's no excuse for such insensitivity.
Diane Abbott should resign immediately. She won't do that, but I think it's highly unlikely we'll see her standing as a Labour MP at the next general election.

 

This has been the problem with people like Abbott all along. Their whole political act is based upon a one way street of racism which has spawned the industry off the back of it we see today. Abbott was clearly trying to insinuate that no matter how bad your persecution as human being from a particular background, you will never feel worse than a person of colour. This ain't top trumps FFS, but then admitting that people other than ones of colour also experience racism would pretty much render the whole reason she exists as an MP redundant. And not just her, its an obsession on social media to keep this industry funded as its a cracking little gravy train for a privileged few.

 

I know these are local elections but Sunak is taking one hell of a beating today. Tone deaf Sunak claims he is listening but just carries on as normal.

It doesn't full endorse Starmer, but Starmer is no Corbyn and people are clearly happy to go back to Labour now Corbyn has gone which puts Sunak in a world of shit.

Is it possible that the Tories remove another PM?

 

No, nobody wants the job, let's get Labour in and a proper Tory government back in 4/5 years ....
