Sorry Olly but that ISN’T much of a defence. He’s a bloody striker and should ALWAYS expect the chance. That’s what makes a striker.

Getting himself caught offside was bad enough (all he had to do was stay level with their defender) and then stick the ball in to an empty net. Woeful

 

I'm very impressed with this win, and the clean sheet helps to justify the intense focus we've placed on defence this Summer.

I did not have us down as winning this game, and while there will be questions about this and that, fitness and squad depth, etc, the fact is, it felt like we'd assembled a strong first XI (even if some of the players behind them don't appear to be all that) and that rings true today.

There are 45 more questions coming our way this season - let's see if we can answer a few more yet.

 

I think if you watch the reply of the chance Doyle did what was best.. a shot from his position with the defender and GKs position would have come to nothing

 

I watched the highlights. I retract my original post!! He was offside though, and did have a good game otherwise.

Spot on BB. It was a comment not based on performance over 90 but one based on a preconceived opinion. Hence the challenge! Anyway as I said to Chris... move on.

 

I would suggest that all of the Ambassadors are an asset to the club in one way or another although not sure how much they contribute in hard cash but have met a few of them over the years and find them all extremely knowledgable and would like to feel that Edin and Stefan call upon their skills when necessary. This can only be good for the club surely.

I’m the real bantam147. All the others are just imitating.

 

But he wasn’t. He played equally well in both halves. He just got more support in the 2nd 45mins, mainly when we made the tactical changes. How many times did they cross from their left and Chicksen headed behind or cleared?

Whaley is a very good L1 player but when 1 on 1, Chicksen coped well. The only time he struggled was when he had 2 or 3 on his side with little support from those in front of him

 

Ah, that says it all. Get back to the snooker, you’re better at it than football punditry.

Mods, I think someone has hacked Fordy’s account again. This can’t possibly be from him as he was only saying the other day that our squad is sh@te, bla bla bla.

But now appears to be claiming it is very good and only needs tweaking.

 

With so many debutants it would be good to see some player ratings from people who went to the game.

 

All about opinions ain't it? For me, he struggled for 30 mins or so. When Shrewsbury were on top it all stemmed through Whalley and Chicksen couldn't get close to him. After Doyle came on, Chicksen was much better.

The standouts were O'Connor, Scannell and Payne. The latter 2 look a cut above anything we've had for a long while.
