Shrewsbury Town (A) - Saturday 4th

Good first away day of the season. Shrewsbury must be the most tedious ground to get to. 1st half fairly even, Payne is a class apart, reminds me of Robbie Blake. Impressed with the tactics of Collins 1-0 away from home & he bring on 3 forwards. I don’t think McCall or Grayson would have done that last season. Good performances and Scannell will be a clear favourite when he is up to full match fitness.

Final point, we have some strange folk following City away. Who was the muppet in the green top who spent most of the game walking up & down the front of the seats getting into stewards faces and clearly looking for a fight? He was clearly off his tits and was rightly dragged out just after half time. Gents, if you are middle aged, have a belly built by curry & tetleys, the topless look isn’t a good one, you are just frightening the kids...⚽️

The problem with doing what Doyle did today is when you play that unselfish ball you have to be awere that he's not offside, that's why I fully expected him to slip it in the bottom left hand corner.

Yep, absolutely BB. Was expecting a loss today on the back of so many new faces so really pleased at our result today. Well done to all concerned and the fantastic turnout from the supporters.

 

Brilliant, really enjoyed that against a good side. Special mention to O’Connor and for the lack of saves RO’D actually had to make given what the defence mopped up for all the ball Shrews had at times. 442 changed the game and looks the way forward based on today.

 

Sorry, but that is just a blinkered view. You’ve clearly already made your mind up about Chicksen, so no matter what he did today, you were going to criticise. Defended really well and got forward when he could.

It was. The shot had lots of venom but O’Connor had gone back and stood on the line and just headed it away. Bet he had a headache for a while

 

Same here I thought he did good job personally. O'Connor did well and Payne was class above. Also liked look of Doyle.

If you want to win you have to be fitter, better and stronger than the opposition.

We were better today:but only just.
Great game and credit to both teams but if you get leggy after 60 mins it's not gonna win the league.
It's going to be even hotter in August and there's a lot of points available. The fittest teams will win.

 

I wasn’t there but all reports say we were the stronger team in the last twenty minutes despite playing a pressing game which suggest we were fit enough

I mentioned that earlier and totally agree.
I reckon he'll get plenty of goals this season. I would love us to get a Mills type striker in support and a great crossing winger but they're VERY expensive
