Listened to it on the radio, and read a few on the reports, and watched the highlights. I think we can put that down as a great result, good performance, with more to come. Feeling depressed as I will miss the next three him matches:( I will try and see if I can watch it on iFollow.

So have many other ppl on here. I personally think if ppl do not make you aware of other tags from the previous message board, then they have the right of privacy without prejudice.

Both teams were struggling at the end.
Don't get me wrong it was a superb result against a very good side away from home.
BUT I don't want to see us struggle - A good 3 points today for sure but not good enough.
I probably want "the moon on a stick" but not quite good ENOUGH for my liking

Earlier in this thread I commented about the temperature, and that players need to 'pace' themselves. Thankfully we now have some footballing ability on the pitch, and they will play smarter, not work harder. :)

With all respect, Ronnie we need both to win the league. There are some good teams this year we HAVE to be the BEST in all departments.

Without a doubt !;) However, I doubt we'll see the best from this group until maybe mid September. :)

Now the dust has settled, I will admit that I didn’t see us winning today. Having said that the current Bradford City is not an evolved team, but a revolution with only 2 starters from last season.

I had predicted a 0-0 outcome. Pleased to be proved overly pessimistic.

I don’t hide behind fictional names pretty simple really. If others do fine that’s their right of course but when asked to substantiate comments made about my name or my postings why be shy?

Well, that was a grand day out! Sunshine, warmth, a packed and noisy away end, a decent sausage roll at halftime, and a City win. For today, at least, I shall desert the pessimists and become a happy clapper. (Only 6 minutes to go in the day as I write this, so easy for me to say that now):D

Just got to my seat a few minutes before kickoff -- signal/points problems delayed my train, first, then cows (!) were on the line, to delay it further, and the comfortable hour I'd left myself to get from station to ground became an uncomfortable 25 minutes...

It was a promising start; the side is raw, but they kept working and were the better side for more of the match than not. After last season's disaster, that was good to see. O'Connor with his defense (but McArdle still does a better body slam) and Scannell with his runs caught the eye, but others did well too. I was right in line with Doyle for the Doyle/Miller chance, and expected D. to shoot. It was a bad miss from Miller; didn't even notice the offside. I was afraid that and the other misses would cost us, but thankfully they didnt.

Whilst I wouldn’t go as far as to say he had a blinder (only Payne and Scannell can claim that), he was solid enough. They clearly thought we had a weakness down that side as they constantly sent 3-4 players into that section and passed around us. Can’t bkame Chicksen when he constantly had 2 to mark. When 1:1, he coped well. Let’s not forget, Whaley is a good player.

The problem is, Kev, some people had already made their minds up about him and nothing he does/did, will now change that view.

Sorry but the cricket comparison is irrelevant. Fast bowlers hardly run in for five days! Even bowling 15 overs in that heat, which is about the most they'd ever bowl, they will run hard for about 10 minutes in total. Not denying it is hard work, I lived in India for a couple of years, but it isn't comparable to playing high intensity football for 90 minutes.

I'd guess a lot teams will have been getting leggy today. Players will still be building their fitness and it has been a freakishly hot pre-season.

Absolutely spot on with that. Payne and Scannell look top drawer. O’Connor looked solid at the back and Chicksen coming in for some unfair criticism. Riley disappointed on the right of midfield and it was the correct decision to hook him.

Hats off to the coaching team for making that change, because that helped us get a foothold back in the game. Clean sheet, 3pts, glorious weather, big vocal support and the coaching team got the tactics right.

Then seeing one of their fans (who couldn’t stop himself during the game) squaring up to a City fan in the pub car park and getting warned by the old bill, just made it a perfect day

You mention our sitter, but how did their lad not score witht the rebound from the 1st effort against the crossbar. Harder to miss from a few yards out. I thought they’d equalised.

It wasn’t Dom Poleon was it

Linesman definitely flagged. Miss was a shocker but in Millers defence I honestly don’t believe he expected the pass.......in fact I don’t think any of us did!

Wouldn’t want to it to tarnish what was, a solid performance by Miller.

    Very true, Kev.
I only enlisted as RonnieBrown because I thought that was the the 'done thing'.

There was a thread about 6/7 years ago on C&B, inviting users to 'out' themselves, and reveal their real name behind their Avatar. The up take was good, and I stated I was Chris. I continue to use Ronnie, as most posters now recognise me as this.
Perhaps 'some' no longer wish to be recognised on BantamTalk ? ......... Why ? Now there's a thought ! ;)

Not every effort on goal is down to a ‘defensive mess up’. We could and should have defended better for the 1st one, but the second was just a terrific shot from Gilly.

Defensively we did really well. Put another way, how much work did our keeper have to do?
