Fair enough but can't see that happening. I can't see many teams being prepared or even able to pay him what we are. Your then saying to him take a pay cut and go elsewhere m8, I would be amazed if he did that.

Depends how desperate he is to play and how much he values happiness against money. I’ve seen players drop their wage demands to play at a lower level and by a club that wanted them.

Andrew Davies is just one example

Your right he was, I don't know Shay so I can't say what direction his moral compass points. So I have to base my thoughts on the majority and as such would find it unlikely.

whether a bit part player or not - goals, assists and two promotions from league two with two different teams should be enough for gary bowyer to bring him back and have a good look at him in pre-season and then with shay, the manager can make a decision on his future at the club.

davies also left the club because parkinson wanted to put him on a pay-as-you-play deal with a lower basic increased with appearance fees but he got a higher basic with ross county.

Not shabby? Six goals in L2? 1 goal in every 5.5 games is a good return? Jesus, you’re the epitome of why we are where we are...!

I repeat, Lincoln signed 2 players last summer for a similar position; one dropped down from L1 and the other signed from non-league. The latter has out-performed the former.

As for the comment about Poleon, whilst that is true, there are always examples of where we have allowed good players to leave for free to get games. Think of Carl McHugh, Greg Leigh etc. How much did we get for Mark Stewart or Aaron Mclean?

There comes a time where you stop throwing good money after bad. And that time is now. If the player wants out and is prepared to cancel his contract, we should allow it and let him go for free, regardless of how ‘crazy’ that makes me..!

For Christ’s sake, I’ll ask you again..... which 2 clubs has McCartan got promoted with?

He has managed just 6 goals this campaign in L2. By that return, you suggesting we keep A.O’Connor, Doyle, Ball plus Payne and Miller as they all managed 6+ goals in the league above?

Which made good business for the club, if I was a manager the likes of Andrew Davies are the type I'd build my squad around but unfortunatly he was injury prone, not suprising putting himself about as he did defending.

I’m going by the fact that he has publicly stated his desire to stay at Lincoln. He doesn’t appear to be enjoying life at City and if he can go to a club that he feels loved at, I can see him asking to be released from his contract.

I agree he's intimated he prefers Lincoln and I get all the loved bit, but the situation next season will be very different from the one he left.
I think Bowyer will have a word, hear his side of the story and make a decision on what he hears, no point in keeping a player who does not want to play for the club.

I have yet to get a response to my question to you. Are you still researching your ‘fact’ that McCartan has 2 promotions on his CV?

Parkinson worked to a budget, if he thought Andrew Davies would be out of the team more than in the team he did the correct thing for Bradforx City.
Davies epitomised the the togetherness of that squad but unfortunatly hard decisions have to be made from time to time.
At the time I thought it was the wrong call but once again Parky improved us as a team finishing higher in the league once again, bringing a rookie kid called Burke in.

bloody hell fella, calm down. sit and breathe.. ok, he's got one promotion. i got accrington's promotion out by a year, it's not the end of the world. i'd still rather have gary bowyer have a look at him during pre-season and see if he thinks he can offer something for us next season in the system that bowyer wants to play. if he does then it's a player we already have on the books, if he doesn't then we try to come to some agreement where he can move on for the benefit of both the player and the club. you obviously don't think that and that's fine. who would you have come in, realistically, that will be a forward option that will have an input straight back to league one? just because a player hasn't worked under one manager, doesn't mean that he won't fit in under another.

But my point is, that he hasn’t ‘worked’ under a series of managers. McCall couldn’t get a tune out of him. Grayson fared no better and I’d argue that 20 starts in a league lower suggests his current manager hasn’t done much more.

Perhaps John Coleman will spunk £250k to take him back to the Wham Stadium? Nah, I don’t think that’s likely either.

The harsh reality is that he’s had a good 6mths in his career and that’s what prompted Abbott to waste over half a million pounds on him. Can we seriously afford to pay someone £200k-£250k for being a bit-part player?

As for replacements, I’m no scout, but I’d be happy for Bowyer to go in for Gnanduillet at his former club. A centre forward who has scored 10 times this season for them. And I believe is out of contract this summer. And if possible, pair him up with Kieran Agard, who is also out of contract. The perfect little and large combo that would have a perfect blend of attributes for L2.

The figures being bandied around as to how much we paid for McCartan, have as l recall, been between £200,000 - £250,000. A big jump there to £500,000. Where do you get that figure from?

He might be meaning the actual transfer fee plus his wages over the time of his contract that McCarten is with us.

    ;)
I based it on a transfer fee of £200k plus his alleged wages of £200k a season. I don’t expect Lincoln to be paying the majority this season, so even if they paid half (max), that is £300k in wages plus a £200k transfer fee. And he still has another £200k to come unless we get some sucker to take him off our hands.

Cheers @Bronco@Bronco, you know how my mind works better than most.... poor you
