He's done well at Lincoln; he didn't do well with us. So he's now able to prove himself again in League 1 with Lincoln. He won't want to drop back down to League 2 who would?

 

Well he is under contract so if Lincoln want him they will need to pay

What am I being accused of now @Rcbantam, I wouldn't have a problem with McCarten returning next season, I think there is more chance of him coming back to Valley Parade than Lincoln paying a decent transfer fee.

 

We we'll have to see if Lincoln are prepared to pay a fee, if they do and he performs for Lincoln in league one as he did for us in league one he will have found his level.
I hope Lincoln do buy him from us, and I hope the lad does well no axe to grind with the kid, when he was here either the club was too big for him 15,000+ fans or he couldn't step up, although to be fair he did say even coming to Valley Parade was a big step up

Elsewhere on the board the overwhelming majority express the view that you need to get rid of the majority of this squad McCartan included, so why would Lincoln need to pay a fee? Just let them take over his contract.

 

what an utter shock that a lad who has been consistently told on social media that he's a poor footballer by fans of the club he is contracted to, doesn't want to return to his parent club as his loan club overtake them in league standings.

Goes with the job, you don't do the business for the club fans are not happy (especially if you paid an inflated fee) do the job and your a hero and all that goes with it.
I'd be very surprised if Bowyer didn't want to have a look at him and how he could fit in at the club, but if Lincoln want to pay a fee maybe he would prefer transfer money to bring in who he knows will fit in with his plans.

 

So Lincoln or others don't match your valuation and you carry on paying his wage.

 

There is zero chance of him returning to us in L2. As somebody else said, just let Lincoln take over his contract. There is no game to be won here.

 

personally, i don't think he was given a run in the side under mccall to gain any rhythm or form. he'd be in for one game and subbed or come off the bench for 10mins. 4 goals in 24 appearances but i wonder how many of them were starts and after he did score how many starts he got after those. any player needs a run in a side to try and gain some form. he was also asked to play out of position on many occasion and had mcmahon pulling ranks on all set pieces, which was said to be one of his strong points.

i could see him being an asset under bowyer, hope he's back for the start of pre-season and given a fair crack.

 

That's if Lincoln want him to stay, they might deem him not good enough for league 1 and send him back.
