Press, effort, application and a desire to take the ball at the opposition.

I'm certainly not going to get carried away with these performances but,

Do you think we finish 1st, or 2nd?

A bit harsh @Parader@Parader, we alway knew Rory's strong point was attacking the ball but today Hopkin has Miller doing exactly the opposite we are playing balls for Miller to run onto and Rory was never known for his pace.

Feel bad for McCall that Scunny team is terrible, but we march on with confidence and swagger

Three weeks ago I feared Sunderland on Boxing Day, now I'm optimistic and I can see us smashing them away too. We just look too good for teams at the moment, which is bizarre when it's the same players who made us look for poor bar Caddis.

You have to ask when defenders go in for a tackle like that when O'Brien was going nowhere out wide, a stupid tackle.

Can we nick something at Sunderland now? Big crowd and who knows. They may freeze if we can press them high up the pitch.

Back to today and we were fantastic. Slightly shaky start but once we sussed them out ( long ball to Caddis side, McGowan moving over for kicks) we beat them comfortably.

O’Brien Payne and ball have a fantastic understanding and if we sign a good target man to give us another option we can clearly avoid relegation.

McGowan and NkP looked solid up against a decent striker in lee Novak. Kudos to them.

O’Donnell making some important saves too.

All around can’t fault any of them.

O’Brien or Payne as man of that match.

What can we say about Payne? Just oozes class and is far too good for this level imo. He just makes things happen and scores goals.

Hopkin and the coaching team deserve a well earned pint tonight. Amazing how far we have come this last 6 weeks or so.

First half we really was magnificent, so much synergy and cohesion. In fact my only complaint was we didn't score more!! The second half, Scunny played a little better but we created a whole load more chances but eased a little, possibly with a hectic Christmas schedule and managed out the game really well.

I have to agree, I go to Sunderland with a confidence we can get something out of the game.

That body check on George Miller by Burgess just before his sending off was poor. Boy, Miller took some punishment today

One reason for most of why we did not score more was this lad [IMG]
he couldn't have had many better days in his career, outstanding if it had finished 5-6-7 Scunthorpe couldn't complain.

Agreed. The save from Ball on the turn from 6/7 out was the pick of the lot

I agree just what you expect from your captain, the man is class at this level and it can only be good for the likes of Miller and O'Brien.

Easily the best performance Doyle has put in.

His touch was excellent, and just like things seem to have 'clicked' for the likes of Payne, O'Brien, Miller and Ball, Doyle seems to have come in and been right at the races.

I've been very critical of Doyle's performances, and while I believe Miller is the better centre forward, if Doyle can prove he is one of the best finishers at the club and continue working properly for the team (today was his hardest working performance so far), there's no question that while the team is playing like this, he'll get chances, and thus (hopefully) he'll take them.

Ball, for me, is a must-sign in the Summer. He'll be on a free, and while Payne is probably everybody's ideal but might be slightly beyond our reach (who knows?), I think Ball is absolutely realistic and should be signed ASAP.
