It would be interesting to know who wants to stay. Maybe a few of the players don't buy in to Hughes's way of playing and the role they're given. There's definitely a feel that the squad isn't a happy group when you see them up against it , there doesn't seem to be the togetherness that the likes of Parky produced

A few things wrong with that substitution. He was our only threat....... He assisted a great goal. seconds before...... They were terrified of him.......when he went of it allowed the Blubrys to attack down that side.... the defender who came on was like a fart in a bottle trying to get up to speed straight away in a very fast hectic game ... no marking for their player from anyone and if you look before the goal I am sure Hughes and his sidekick had a piece of paper and he may have been discussing pen takers defensive defensive and that periods was the only time they were on the ropes......very poor all round

He’s right, he won’t. Compare him to Palace’s other wide right player Olise and think again . He’s on a different planet compared to Scott Banks . If we had been promoted then I think we would have him another season, I doubt it now VM!

 

Nothing at all. I just wonder if he became disillusioned with our playing style.

 

I think a lot of the players did. You could see from their body language during games and the interactions between themselves that they weren’t always happy. Lewis and the defence often seemed frustrated with the fact that they were being asked to constantly pass it around the back until a ball on to the midfield became available.

 

That could well have taken a long time
It usually ended where we lost the ball and the opposition scored

Got hooked whilst his marker (at least 10 years his senior) played the full game

Well he should have left him on. We don’t play to the clock. It’s the state of the game that dictates changes.

 

I think he will be back next season. I’m not sure what his contract situation but at 21 the lad has quality but not enough to ever be considered for Crystal Palace. 11 Goal contributions in 35 games is a decent return for someone so young and in a division that can be unforgiving. If we do have some cash from this record revenue people keep mentioning then id definitely be using to try and sign him permanently.

 

I'm not saying he will get a look in at Palace. You just never know though.

Players develop differently. Vardy is another obvious one. Knocking around the non-league for years.

 

Agreed but its very rare. Most players by 21 will be in and around the first team squads if they were thought to be good enough. Unfortunately not many young lads get given the chance as the risks are too high.

I like Banks and I think he enjoyed it here. I would be going all out to try and sign him again. Maybe a league 1 club will come in for him but he has time on his side. The only clubs I could see him joining are the likes of Burton or Cheltenham. I dont see the lad getting much more from playing there than he would with us.

 

And yet Smallwood made 40 odd appearances in the Championship the year before struggling at league 2 level.

Stranger things have happened, I think that's all they are trying to say.

Palace given him a 1yr extension to see how he gets on in league one next season.

Carlisle defeat ended any chances of him playing for us next season.

 

Absolutely no chance, so who else have they got seeing we “ developed “ him so well?

And coming from the "Master of Strange Comments" that just shows how strange it is. I think there is more chance of Leeds staying up than Banks ending up back in L2. The boy will have a very good career.
