Why would anybody at Huddersfield put us right about his injury woes when we were paying a transfer fee to them to buy him?. It is up to the buying club to do their homework and arrange suitable medicals

    Our transfer deals were lazy.

Let's go to Town and Leeds for players.

It's up to the buying club to do their homework on players as you say.

Get your point Idle but I didn't mean that I meant that it was so "well known" and his playing (or not) history so "out there" that if anyone who knew football had bothered to flick over the "first page" ? his sick notes were there to see !. Can't blame DB's for off loading him to Rahic, Abbott and Marty Cone ?

I was delighted when we signed Scannel. My Hudds supporting mates were amazed we landed him. They thought he was far too good for league 1 even with his injury record. That said a cracked bone in his back is hardly a run of the mill injury like a pull or a strain.

Think you've answered your own question mate, and as you say there has never been as much information out there about folk not just footballers.

Everybody knew about Scannell being injury prone, only played half a season at Huddersfield. Why didn't the manager know

Because until the appointment of Bowyer we never had a proper manager all season till it was virtually to late, The inmate was in charge of the asylum!!

To be fair, dont know how he did it but a back fracture is a bit of a rare injury to suffer, its not like its a recurring injury is it

We blame Edin but it just highlights the lack of footballing men we've at Bradford City.

I can't get my head around the Jan transfers myself

Sometimes I think footballers live in a ‘Never Never Land’! How many normal work place Contracts would allow people to draw a wage, if they are not fit to complete any work?

Normal jobs have guidance such as, ‘
You can be dismissed if you have a persistent or long-term illness that makes it impossible for you to do your job.
Before taking any action, your employer should:
    • look for ways to support you - eg considering whether the job itself is making you sick and needs changing
    • give you reasonable time to recover from your illness
    https://www.gov.uk/dismissal/reasons-you-can-be-dismissed

Citizens Advice suggests. ‘It could be considered reasonable for your employer to put up with a year's sick leave if you've worked there for a long time, but this may be considered less reasonable if you've only be there a short time’. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/work/problems-at-work/employment-tribunals-from-29-july-2013/making-an-employment-tribunal-claim-is-it-worth-it/employment-tribunals-unfair-dismissal-claims/legal-tests/employment-tribunals-legal-tests-for-unfair-dismissal-claims-long-term-sickness/
I had a look to see if l could find anything about termination of footballers contracts. The best l could come up with was this, ‘However, under Article 14, a contract may be terminated by either party without consequences of any kind (either payment of compensation or imposition of sporting sanctions) where there is ‘just cause’. Just cause is not defined.........’ https://www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/football-player-breaking-contracts/

So there it is folks. I would assume the end of this season in respect of Reeves and Robinson, Scannell may well be more complicated as his circumstances have been clearly identified and would require medical evidence.

If might have been because the player budget on offer, most think Hopkin left because he could not get a tune from the playing squad, could it have been because he was disappointed with the money available in the January window and thought the same might apply in the closed season unless he got some of the non plaing players out during that window ?.

Interesting one @Bigrod@Bigrod we know depending who you work for sick pay can be different, some companies pay full wage for 6 months some maybe for less, but as we know footballers are a different breed.
That why I've asked if the club have some sort of insurance against long term injuries.

I appreciate that it wasn't his usual injury and obviously was going to take a longer time than normal, but anyone connected to football knew about Scannells injury record at Huddersfield, the man is made of glass, let's hope it's not 10 mins off the bench and then recurrence of an old injury and out for the rest if the season. Scannell is a very good footballer but far too injury prone, that's why we got him, none else was prepared to take the chance with him

This is why Rupp and Rhodes no excuses for both next season.

They both and the board need to prove themselves.

Rhodes to be far has in the past but Rupp hasn't. He's been all talk like Edin really.

Heard talk on twitter that he got the back injury due to coming off a jet ski, when on holiday recuperating from the original injury.

Not ever seen that officially confirmed by the club do could be a false rumour.
