    Let Reeves get on with his recovery. In my opinion it’s unlikely to be a physical injury, he and the club would be talking about surgery, rehab etc. or even about retiring. Because of the silence it’s more likely IMO to be a stress related illness, a family problem or something similar that means he isn’t playing. If that’s the case let him get on with fixing it.

    Won't insurance be picking up the wage until he is fit again? If so that might explain why he isn't playing as we could be saving that wage for next seasons budget? Just a thought.

    He's not played for us in over a year! A year!!

    In fact when was the last time he played?

    Now I hope he is ok but we can't keep paying him. His contract runs out at the end of next season I think? So what you just want us to wait?

    Very true @Interested Bystander@Interested Bystander Andy Carrolls past injuries make Jake Reeves time out cheap in comparison.
    Unfortunately Jake seemed to have had an injury free career where as Carroll's has been anything but.

    You (and a few others) are talking nonsense. The club is not a charity, it is a football club. And guess what, as a football club it is still subject to English employment law, English contract law and the rules and regulation of the English football league. Whatever we might think of the Scannell situation, the club recruited him in full knowledge of his injury record, had him undertake the usual medical check up and then after all that, offered him a contract which both parties signed willingly. He was a big risk and for whatever reason after suffering a major injury, the risk came back to bite us. And in some way, the club will have to pick up the tab for resolving the issue. If that means allowing him to sit out his contract or paying him off instead, it will cost the club money, one way or another. We can't simply tear up his contract.

    @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler maybe you can enlighten us as to whether injured players are covered by insurance for as long as they are injured? Or is there a set time limit and then the club has to step back in to take up wages.
