Fair call Kev. I'll be honest I'd rather be in Carlisle's shoes right now than our own, they have owners with ambition and money to invest, something we so badly lack. The fact Lewis has chosen to move there is more an indictment on our part that a young keeper sees them as being more beneficial to his future. Apparently close to £200k (someone mentioned Parker as the source) is good business but only if every penny of that is reinvested into the squad. The quicker we get the Young saga dealt with the better, the club can finally move on.

We all know the club is being hamstrung by Young , the injury issue started off pretty accurate, because it was, and then it appears its turned into a charade. GA can’t be blamed for that, neither can the club.

If Young had to gonads to come out and say publicly, instead of hiding behind an “ injury” or an argument that happened 7 months ago , “I want to leave” , then everyone would be happy .

I’ve said before what I’d do with him , the club clearly don’t want the risk of losing out on a fee, however unless he wants to play I wouldn’t have him anywhere near the club.

Thereagain it’s not my money so I have zero input.

Which ever way we look at it and a potential solution, it’s a blight on the club and supporters. Him, I don’t give two hoots, unless he wants to return properly and play his part, then I’ll back him like any other player.

I am all for it if its invested straight into the squad but if rumours that we need to sell to plug a gap in our spending then you have to simply look how shite our recruitment has been and why we are going down this route .......... i mean say Derbyshire is on 2k a week at the least thats £130,000 blown out of the budget and youve got a lot more like that.

 

Put it this way they have a lot of spare change however the family wealth is said to be debatable. Some say as high as a billion dollars and as low as 17m dollars. It may be they have leveraged the club against the company they own rather than themselves, or indeed like Glaziers placed all the purchased debt against the club? I don’t know but I’m sure @Bluebry may know. .

Correct, they knew about Walker in the summer because Doyle didn't make friends with him last week!

Saying we had him on a list in the summer is silly really, doesn't mean he was high up the list or any good compared to the other options, it's just a lazy line to put to the fans to say we didn't panic and call Charlton and ask if they'd release him so we could sign him.

 

Same reason we didn't sign him: piddly League Two budgets don't necessarily prioritize goalkeepers.

Agree - they knew him. I'm disappointed we haven't replicated the Lewis approach, and found another good up and coming keeper that we could possibly sell on. We seemed to introduce a strategy and then change it a few months down the line.

To be honest with you, I would have vetoed the signing of Derbyshire last year.

I'd have even fallen out with Hughes over it if he was insistent.

There may not be one available BB? They are normally to be had during the Prem and CC summer clear out as opposed the winter window. It would be impossible to say why nobody was deemed acceptable during the summer. It’s impossible to say.

 

No idea Jon, but it’s not uncommon for clubs to get loan or cheap keepers at the expense of a more expensive outfield player?
It’s a false economy, because a good shot stopper is as good as any goal at the other end!
