Xmas 2018....

 

I cannot wait to see the back of most of these quite honestly horrific playing squad.

Can anyone say we have played one full game all season that we can say we were very good? Poor all season. Poor squad. Please, most of them, just go away.

Sorry mate I'm blaming Stuart, why the changes after last week were they necessary, we didn't hold the ball up front till Donaldson showed a bit of aggression, poor around performance but Stuart cant go blameless.
If it's not broken why try to fix it.

 

According to the post match interview the team was woeful. They were warned about Hunter's style of play but are obviously too thick to follow the manager's instructions.

 

I get your sentiments completely however Jurgen Klopp couldn't get a tune out of this lot.

It's abundently clear that Bowyers recruiting ability is as bad as his tactical ability.

Everyone hoped that SM would turn things around but in the cold light of day this squad has to be as bad as any I have witnessed since 1979.

That's why I can't judge SM until I see what players he can bring in.

 

And throughout all this not a word from our owner.

 

Among the many things this squad lacks, some shithousery is right up there.

There was a moment in the first half where reeves and one of their lads were chasing a bouncing ball. Reeves got nudged and instead of diving to the floor and buying a free kick, he headed the ball straight out of play.

Now you think back to Tony McMahon and his antics and christ you almost miss him.

 

I actually agree with Fordy there. It's not that the lad was practising shots from 35 yards on his own, there are 21 other players on the pitch that can influence that part of the play. The fact that he had time and space to be able to line up a 35 yard strike means that our players should have done better and prevented it. If he had been put under time and space pressure he probably wouldn't have hit the target and scored!!

Numerous coaching points from that little passage of play...

Hunter dropped off Mellor from our right into space, in between the lines. Mellor didn't go with him. CBs were marking but our 4 'midfield' players in the frame (DMH,JR,JD,CC) were taken out of the game by his movement and by Gibson's pass. We were 10 yards off Gibson as well so he wasn't under pressure at all. Mellor runs away back to his area rather than try and close Hunter down. CC is the closest player (5 yards away) when Hunter strikes. CBs don't rush out to try and stop the strike. We have a very bad habit of backing off and letting players run at us without a challenge!!

Now onto the 2nd goal...

Hunter gets the ball 20 yards in his own half (from a pass by Gibson, who again had no pressure applied!!), our midfield far too high and the gap between midfield and defence is half the pitch. Hunter runs completely unchallenged to the edge of the area and shoots and scores!! The only person who attempted to come and stop him was AOC but it was too little too late. Again backing off, backing off. Think Mellor was wary of the guy who was coming up on the left but he wasn't the danger, the man with the ball was!! If he doesn't get the ball he is no danger!! On all my FA Courses when they talk about defending they talk about 'where is the danger', defend the danger..

We gave Gibson far too much time and space all afternoon to dictate their play. You can't allow an ex-prem and International player that time and space. His legs have gone but put him under pressure and he can't make those decisive passes!!

 

A reality check is needed here. Forget the league positions, I've seen nearly every game this season. That squad was never really challenging the top 7, it's no better than the rest of the teams below them. McCall does have weaknesses, his starting line up yesterday a point in case. But I'm pretty sure no manager would get this current squad in to the playoffs, most of them struggle to control a football. No manager can work with a squad that can't even do the basics.

 

GB was on a downward trajectory so his 1.5 was only going lower, McCall has failed to get us out of that horrific away form.

Poor squad overall, that’s firmly at Bowyers door.

 

Or you could just fire your own email to him and tell him he’s made a massive mistake appointing the guy that took us to our highest placed finish in more than a decade....... just so we don’t have to read your constant criticism of McCall every time you post.

 

Given your reply you should be hating the majority of the squad who have under performed and are possibly also high earners, Doyle, Vaughan, Donaldson, McCartan etc.
Only my opinion but hate is a horrible word to use about someone who we dont know personally and judge them on their footballing ability when they play.

It always baffles me how people who support a different team to someone else can't be in the same area as each other at a game, it's no different to being at work with mates who support other sides, pure neanderthal.

 

Like the look of that team. And I’m sure we’ll have a go, getting this weird almost strange sensation, think it’s called optimism.

 

I'll probably get pelters for this but that's the textbook issue with Stuart's teams.
