Even when the maximum wage was abolished there was sort of "gentlemen's agreement" between the chairmen which fixed the high end wages, hence you didn't see so much transfer activity and a lot of one club players

Another factor will be staying local. Players travel and put up with extra financial costs to get big money. If you can't get any more by travelling, or moving, several hundred or even thousands of miles, you might just play for the nearest club in that division that will have you and keep your costs down.

unless relocation costs are not included in the cap in which case people might get a house thrown in.

Just been listening to Darragh McAnthony's podcast where he talks about the cap.

Basically, as we all thought, players signed now, will count as already under contract, and will be part of the dispensation.

However, the dispensation will work on averages. For example, if we sign a player on 5k p/w and the average wage in our division is 2k p/w, then it is the average wage figure which will count towards the total budget.

To sum that up then, there’s absolutely nothing stopping us from pushing the boat out and making high quality signings as only the league 2 average wage figure of said player (around 1.5k per week) will count towards the salary cap? Have I got that right?

It explains how Bolton and Salford have been able to sign the players they have and why the doom and gloom narrative the club have been pushing was utter bollocks. Truth is, we had no desire to spend a great amount anyway and the Salary Cap ‘restrictions’ provided us with the perfect excuse to feed the fans more bullshit.

So we can sign players on 2, 3 year deals now that won't count towards the nonexistent salary cap.
    But we won't.

Run by fools who don't understood the new rules that dont exist. Happyclappers lap this crap and spin from the mouthpiece.

That's how I assumed it would work. However, until it is agreed (voted through) and the details are published, nobody knows for certain (although the clubs will have a good idea).

That's more or less what my understanding is. The effect using your example would be for £3k/wk (excess of actual pay over average divisional pay) to be added to the salary cap. That means as @Tolly856@Tolly856 suggests that there is no incentive whatsoever in terms of the salary cap not to recruit as Salford and others are doing. The issue is an internal one for the particular club in that they are shelling out more than the salary cap infers. And we've chosen not to be in that camp. Those clubs with deeper pockets are still able to circumvent the cap this season.

It is taking a risk though until the vote happens as it could go the other way and just people under contracts from 19/20 are factored like said

Unless seven other teams are out spending us, we're still not in a bad position.

Which seven teams are outspending us Salford are definitely trying to buy the league Mansfield have today recouped much of what they have spent who are the other 5 also the transfer window isn’t even open yet and the season is about 8 weeks away so we don’t know what the final figures will be

Any contract signed before 6th August will count as a maximum of £1300 per week per season toward salary cap. So Bolton and Salford have nothing to fear by securing big signings as far as salary cap is concerned

Maybe we can now go in for Callum Cooke and offer him a bit more to secure his signing?

ha ha I can't people that people like @Park bantam@Park bantam were using the salary cap as an excuse like Salfard and Bolton are not in these takes also.

Think we are making a drama of this.

Who say we are in for Callum Cooke? He didn't really play under McCall.

But we are against it, as are Sunderland, Portsmouth and a few others. And now with this change some of those that were for the cap originally may change their mind due to it being pointless
