I agree with you@Ricc. The only games I’ve seen this season are Shrewsbury and Burton due to holiday. And even tho we won both of them, it wasn’t what I could say very convincing. And both of those sides are struggling at the moment. But as some people are saying, give us time to gel. But my big worry is, we dont seem to be creating many chances.

 

The flip side to that could be that playing poorly and picking up two decent results is a sign of a potentially good side.

I don't think anyone is getting carried away but we've started better than I thought we would. Picking up six points from two sides that were relegated down to this league and two sides that finished above us last season is a decent return.

The performances can be better though and Wycombe could be a good opportunity to show that we can do much better. I'm sure there's still plenty more to come from this squad but its up to Collins et al to get that out of them.

I think from the views just on here the vast majority know that we haven't performed yet and were very happy with the win on Tuesday and know the performance wasn't there but was better than the previous 2 league games. I also think the reality amongst City fans is that it's going to be a rollercoaster of a season which as city fans is one that you are used to.

I doubt it according to Collins his ‘Mrs’ thinks he works too hard at the expense of his family.

Spot on. I think most people have a question mark over Collins but are willing to give him time to see how he does.

 

That's life in many cases, it is hard especially if there are young kids involved, but without doubt if he puts the hours in and makes a sucsess of the City job the long hours he's put in should reward him with a very good lifestyle in the coming years.
Just which is the more important the Collins family or the Bradford City family, without bringing sucsess to one he won't be able to give the other family the things they want, Im sure weve all been there, Ive been told in the past " you should be married to your job they see more of you than me and the kids" what she didnt say was "my job" provided a very good standard of living for us as a family.

 

I think he'll do well to get us in to the PO's as well. I'll be very surprised if Sunderland and Barnsley don't run away with the top 2 spots which means that everyone else will be fighting for the PO's and there must be 10-12 clubs (including us) with realistic ambitions of getting one of those remaining 4 places so it's going to be tough.

In terms of our squad, we have depth and it's certainly more balanced than this time last year when Adam Thompson was the entirity of our cover if any of our defenders got injured. Whether we have the strength in depth then that's open to question because the cover is provided by the next generation of players but that's the model that we're going for, we can't have designs on making money from improving young players and selling them on for a profit if we block the path to the 1st team with established players.

MOST people would have a question mark over MOST managers so nothing new really.

Maybe a bit of added concern given his lack of in depth experience but we have seen what experience can do (Robson, Taylor, Grayson, McCall, Docherty, Lawrence, Jeffries, Todd...,OK enough -Ed) to know that names and experience don't in themselves provide any guarantee.

Whereas our experiences with less experience has been much more enjoyable overall (McFarland, Cherry, Dolan, Kamara, Jewel).

Scunthorpe pushed the boat out to get up. They were looking at short term goals and it didn't work. They are now in a position where they think they need to change less than a month into the season.

Thankfully we don't and, even more, thankfully we started our clear out in Feb and finished it in the summer.
