Honestly, having had the weekend to reflect on things, giving Macca and Kenny an extension really was an abysmal play.

I cannot think of a single upside to that decision.

My mind remains boggled, and I've tried to look at this from every which way. Someone with a better imagination is going to have to fill me in on how it made sense?

If he thought McCall deserved longer to turn this mess around, then fair enough. But there was still no need to extend his contract right now, there is hardly going to be a queue of clubs tempting him away in the summer.

It just doesn't make sense

 

You can’t have it both ways, we moan when Rhodes refused to speak but when Sparks does speak people still moan.

 

I can only think that they are trying to steady the rapidly sinking ship, by trying to enforce a bit of stability. New CEO comes in, wants to be seen as doing the right thing, and doesn't want his first job to be handing Stuarts cards to him. Sends a clear message of trust and support to the manager and his coach.

However! A clearer message would have been to NOT do that, but instead, look at the results, listen to the fans, and to trust and support the manager and his coach by backing them in the transfer window.

Unfortunately what it now looks like, is that Sparks is just another "Ruppet", and is doing something he really shouldn't be doing, just to look good in the eyes of our esteemed leader.

 

What is Ryan's experience or expertise in a role like CEO of a football club? I can't find any stand out attributes.

We were calling out for a David Baldwin type appointment, and we got the office junior.

Time might prove me wrong but this all wreaks of amateur hour, lurching from disaster to disaster.

Looking at Ryan's history he appears to have been media manager at the Bulls whilst Omar Khan and Marc Green were running the club, which correct me if I am wrong had plenty of smoke and mirrors about how bad the situation really was there at the time.

 

Usual soundbites for this time of year. I'm still waiting to hear what his plan is to take this football club forward.

 

Please give the guy a chance, he doesn’t need to communicate plans right now and under your orders, demand, stomping of feet, twisting of knickers. plans might be best kept private why do you think you have a right to know?

To be honest right now it’s quite simple what the plan is and it involves improving the squad in Jan, I think Sparks said that quite clearly.

 

Honestly you are acting like you were born yesterday.

Ryan, McCall and Rhodes were all in this together. This wasn't a Ryan decision to keep him. They all played Rupp like a fiddle and got their reward.

The headache is still there because we all know McCall isn't good enough the only thing is now McCall gets to the end of the season but doesn't mean he gets next season.

If it was Ryan's decision to extend McCall's contract then its a major mistake.

The closest thing I could think of is that it suggests to the players he isn’t on the verge of leaving and was thus intended to give them a kick up the backside.

But it will take more than that to keep us up.

 

McCall won’t need those, I have just been informed that he had a double jeapordy clause in the original contract, so he can’t be sacked twice for the same crimes

 

Me too..seems at odds with Stuart's take. Still feels as if the Club lacks the discipline of a common agenda to me. If Sparks can do what Julian didn't, then he will bring something to the job. Mixed messages out of the Club aren't helpful and certainly, in times like these, we need an affirmed agenda from the very top Dave.

Sparks needs to quickly understand what his role is now or this apprentice appointment is going to end in trouble.

He may have worked under worse circumstances ie Rahic, but at that time we were in the division above.
Currently as it stands, we depart league football in the position we are in.
McCall with Campbell are my Bradford City hero's. My formatve years we're their's in Mid/late eighties.
Honestly I have very little confidence McCall can get us out of this and if im wrong I I certainly hope I am. He's not the manager to take us forward thereafter

 

As I said his interview was only last week, what do you think he could update us on in less than 7 days since his interview? Do you expect daily updates?

 

Ah the good old hot air of "we'll be prepared" for a transfer window. Does Ryan fancy sharing what exactly he has put in place (or plans to) to make sure that this window doesn't go the way of the last 7? Because empty promises don't wash anymore.

 

Ryan is doing skype calls with fans. He is asking them to show their abilities as happy clappers so they can be put up the pecking order for tickets for return to games.

Part of the call is word association, so for example Ryan says Guthrie and if the fan says clinical or powerhouse they are given a star. Where as if they say donkey or stealing a living the receive a cross. Those with the most stars will be given first access to games.

Another word association was 18 months, with some fans saying stability for bonus stars.
