Oh stop bleating will you. RS said in that interview the club as fecked up in many ways. And he wants to reverse that.

Get off your high horse and get behind the new set up and stop going on and on about the past.

I suggest we see what happens in the next few weeks before judging sparky. He is going down the right route by taking applications and for the first time for a long time speaking and evaluating potential managers and taking soundings from others in football. He also recognises our short comings in scouting and has promised to set one up these are things people have been asking for. So we need to give him the benefit of the doubt until we see if he delivers. But he is an impressive interviewee

Bless. You have no idea yourself have you of what experience RS has of managerial negotiations in football or Rugby yet you assert he has no experience. RS said in that interview he has experience in being involved in managerial appointments, You just refuse to believe him. Why?

I'm not on a high horse, and you don't need to reply to every single post I make if you don't want to.

This is an unfair appointment. Ryan Sparks should not have to be in this position. It's ridiculous to expect him to achieve all that he has to in order to turn this club around. His appointment is a failure of leadership YET AGAIN, and I'm not ready for that to be considered one of the 'past mistakes', thank you.

Rupp and Rhodes failed massively in dumping this in Sparks' lap.

You obviously disagree and think it's a superb appointment. I guess we all see things quite differently. Nothing wrong with that, although it obviously offends you somehow.

Mate, he spoke to Ryan once and acting like a kid! I am still trying to figure out what his agenda is. He doesn't say what he talks to Ryan about but this is the problem with this club. Acts like it's perfect.

It's not about Ryan. It's about Rupp just seeming not bothered which is leading to poor decisions.

I just don't see how the decision can be taken seriously. Edin, Colins, Rhodes, Hopkins, Grayson, Bowyer, McCall, Sparks it's bad decision after bad decision! It's not any of these peoples fault its just like someone putting petrol in a diesel car because they can, as that car isn't important.

Edin needed to go but so does Rupp. Can't blame Sparks for taking the job but its too big for him in my mind but good luck to him hope OFF the pitch he builds something and takes us forward. - It's off the pitch he will be judged!

Doesn’t it make sense to see what he does over the course of time before coming out with judgments like that

Once again your low estimations of Ryan are exposed. Why are you an expert in managerial appointments?

I haven't judged Sparks, though. I've judged the appointment, as it appears, alongside all the data I have. It's an inexperienced chap walking into a hideous monstrosity of a job. If he succeeds, and I hope he does, it will be nigh-on Biblical. He'll probably have appointed three or four perfect staff members and addressed our myriad issues overnight just to stay in the EFL.

Keefly, I'm assuming you mean 'managerial' appointments as in managerial level, rather than football managers.

    I'm not an expert.

But the last time we were SUCCESSFULLY appointing young, up-and-coming staff members to top positions, Kamara and then Jewell both walked into very well-defined hierarchies and worked within them. There's no doubt Kamara and Jewell both knew who the boss was and what he expected of them - allowing them to focus on a specific task at hand.

It would have been very nice had Sparks been afforded the same courtesy / privileged position. But he hasn't been given that. He's been given a ridiculous task.

I think the current favourite adage, ‘We are where we are’, springs to mind.

All the ‘Ifs, buts and maybe’s’ are just that.

Ryan is the CEO, talking about other potential occupants of the role is fanciful, but totally meaningless in the real world.

Let’s see how he does, because all the ‘wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth’, isn’t going to change the past or the current situation.

All people like me, who have real doubts that can't be dismissed by flippant remarks from Keefly, can hope is that the situation is addressed as quickly as the one with Collins' appointment was if it's not working out.

And no. I don't mean Sparks leaving the club any time soon. But the top job, be it Director of Football or whatever else we want to call it, must go to a real, true football person with experience and knowledge and who knows what weaknesses they have and what they need to compliment their abilities.

In that sense, it isn't too late for changes :)

I apologise if I've bored anyone, I'll happily stand back from this thread and we'll see what happens over the next few months.

For fear of actually getting a straight answer i'll ask again. Up until the appointment of a new manager at Bradford City, where has Ryan sat down an interviewed a potential candidate for football league managers job? Its a very simple question.

It needs a professional team at the club, Sparks doesn’t need to be cook and bottle washer. Sparks needs to surround himself with the right (football?) people which he seems well aware of.

He is not setting up a new business from scratch and building a team of 500 with complex technical job roles he needs to research in depth. Footy Manager, 11 blokes, get them to try hard and work as a team .

Interview questions are usually quite generic, judgement is key here and judging personalities is key. You wouldn’t usually find one person interviewing so i wouldn’t expect that here.

Experience is great but i think we needed an ideas man too so its a trade off with Sparks perhaps. One where so far he is so far coming across very well.

So far so good for me, I expect a worthy managerial appointment to come, with that hunger, professionalism and judgement required.

Ryan has said in that interview he has been very close to the process of recruiting managers both in football and rugby over the last 10 years. That may have included being in the room at interview. You would have to ask him yourself.

To be honest Campbell I think mine would be too if was a case of speaking with some of the negatrons on here - Ryan spoke a lot of sense last night but none of it will mean jackshit if things dont improve in a whole range of areas, so I am happy to let him crack on with the job in hand

He did speak a lot of sense during yesterday's interview. He didn't avoid any of the questions, even the difficult ones and there was implied criticism of the previous incumbent in the way the club was currently structured. It all made sense to me and I'd agree with most of what he had to say. I enjoyed hearing it given where we've been and where we are at the moment.

But that's the easy bit for somebody used to dealing with the media and who expresses himself in an articulate manner. The difficult part has yet to come and that's where Sparks will be really judged. Will he be able to introduce his own ideas into the club and will the resources be made available to him? Will he be able to take our club forward as he wants to or will we face more disappointment? Will there be progress both on and off the pitch as most fans would want or will it be another false dawn? I really want Sparks to succeed with all of this but his fine words won't do that on their own.
