The plan in is through commercial opportunities give the manager as much support as possible and when said manager lives up to their reputations and gets success follow that formula going forward

What happens when the commercial opportunities dry up? Or they are not happy with the product?

Plus make sure that it is fully sustainable so that there is no forced contributions from the owner.

How is that working then? Despite all of the good work by Davide Longo etc to bring more commercial income into the club, despite fans paying more for their season tickets, despite more season tickets being sold, the playing budget for this season hasn't been increased one jot. In fact, over the past 5 seasons, according to Sparks, the playing budget for the current season has stayed around the same level as we spent in our recent past. That has nothing to do with how well the budget has been spent but rather it reflects how the club chooses to spend its extra income. How do you explain that if the club is giving the manager as much support as possible?

You go on about the top few like it's some badge of honour. We should be by rights in that top 2 or 3, we have the best part of 17,000 paying spectators and everything that indirectly.comea along with that.

Yes, given our crowds and our commercial activities, we should be able to have one of the best playing budgets in our division. But that's not the case. Sparks himself has said that there are clubs whose budgets are almost 50% more than ours. Over the past few years, our budget hasn't increased at all whilst others have. We are now planning to spend about 40% less than what the SCMP salary cap would allow. I don't know how that squares with a club which wants to get out if this division. It doesn't make sense to me.

Giving our size and commercial revenues we should have the most resources. We don’t that’s a fact where that money goes is anyone’s guess .

So when crowds and sponsors starts to dwindle and believe you and me Park it will if we continue to regress. I fear for us on the pitch particularly, if people think the quality is lacking now how about when the budget get culled.

Interesting. I’m confused now as Park has just said we have one of the top few budgets. So he or Sparks is lying and making up fairy stories.

I can understand your confusion! Think of it in terms of somebody who wears claret & amber tinted glasses which blind him to the realities at VP and who makes claims which he never substantiates .. and somebody else who is called Ryan. ;)

    Spot on Steve.

The bonkers thing about our high turnover of managers is it takes at least 2 or 3 transfer windows to assemble a squad, and even then it's not going to be perfect.

Mark Hughes is probably the only guy who has had that opportunity since Parkinson.

The rest of them walked into a squad they didn't want that didn't quite work for them and ultimately ended up getting sacked because of it.

Yes, these managers should be doing their due diligence, looking at our squad and saying "you know what, that's not right for me", but aside from Danny Cowley, I'm not sure any of them have been brave enough to do it. I can understand Stuart continually coming back as a passion project and Hughes pretty much didn't seem to care as long as he was back in the game, but guys like Adams, Bowyer, and now Alexander... I don't think any of them really thought it through beyond Park's "you just need to be a manager and that's that" philosophy.

In fact, that was Alexander's criticism of MK Dons: that they stood for something and weren't just a ramshackle assembly of random faces, so maybe he really does suit us lol - he stands for nothing, neither do we.

One quote I heard from Artell at his Grimsby press conference which I thought was spot on was where he said he's spoken to other clubs and asked them what the plan was and those clubs said HE was the plan. He turned them down because the manager alone can't be "the plan".

May or may not be true that he turned clubs down but the point he was making was a good one.

Sounds like he turned down the Morecambe job on that basis.
It backs up what a lot of us have been saying. The club needs a plan rather than just hoping we get lucky with a Parky type.

But to have a plan the club need to be self aware, transparent and open to doing things differently. Club struggles with those elements and some fans also struggle.

Ironically the last few seasons that has not been the case, although the product on the field was not great (regressed) our season tickets sales, merchandise, hospitality, sponsorship etc have increased.
And may do again if Alexander can get the squad producing results and give the fans something to look forward too, if not this season certainly next.

We pay half in some cases a third of what over clubs fans pay many of which don’t have big stadiums to maintain with all that entails and with high rent to pay

I can not believe this thread is still rumbling on.
If the disgruntled supporters are so unhappy, why not do something about it, other than planing fly overs and tennis ball stunts.
Club together and buy the club and build us a new training ground, thus leading Bradford City to the promised land.
Maybe the fact these keyboard warriors, probably have not got two half pennies to rub together is holding them back.
No they just demand the current owner pours money in, with no actual guarantee of success or a return on his investment.
We keep looking for the knight in shining armour to be our saviour, well despite the many rumours, there isn't anyone in sight willing to meet the asking price for club or stadium. Mark Lawn and Julian Rhodes, two supporter owners had no real money to take the club forward and often presided over fire sales to balance the books.
So the club will have to plod on its current weary path.
I do not like it ,as many don't, but it is where we are .
The present squad is not dreadful , send back all the loanees recall East and Young , a couple of additions and we will be fine.
