We're just too laborious and hesitant in possession- Platt and Critchlow being the two biggest culprits. Neither release the ball anywhere near quick enough and it always allows the opposition to get everyone behind the ball and in shape.

Centre of midfield is also a problem. Gilliead and Smallwood don't work as neither is capable of passing the ball forwards. East needs to start at Mansfield.

And on the topic of Smallwood, get him as far away from free kicks and corners as possible. Horse shit every single one of them.

 

We could see this weeks ago. I posted the “Defeat Incoming” thread before the Stockport game and was accused of being a doom monger. It was clear then that we were not far away from a poor run. We’ve not really put in a good complete performance all season.

Today was too slow, too predictable, like it has been most weeks. When we’ve played well it’s only been for half a game.

Hughes needs to get a grip of this situation sharpish.

 

Alex Gillead is one of the worst professional footballers I've ever seen. Apart from being able to run around a lot there's not a single thing he does well.

He's on a par with Will Atkinson for me, whereby he was so incredibly poor previously that now he's dropped back and is less noticeable people somehow accept the performances when in truth they are only just bordering on below average.

I get why people suggest Smallwood isn't having the impact they want but I'm curious to see whether he'd be a completely different player if we had an actual central midfielder alongside him.

Yes but I'll be honest I don't want to go through the season watching the rubbish I've watched the last two games. Even before that it's hardly been riveting.

 

The Mark Hughes buzz is now over. His stubbornness to change, saying "As long as I am here this is how we will play" is basically telling the fans to go get stuffed - it's my way or nothing.

Well, Mr. Hughes, your "way" is not working, especially at home, is it?
Fans are bored gutless with the negativity in the play, the lack of midfield creativity, the slow boring sideways passing, players who have the opportunity to move forward with the ball yet for some reason stand still with it not knowing what to do, next to zero attempts at goal.........hell I could go on.
Now this may well work away from home but come on man.........at home we have to be entertaining and go for it!!

As much as Derek Adams was detested, at least he got one thing right when he said, "passing around the back four for ages doesn't win you games" So right DA.

I sincerely hope that Mark Hughes gets it right and takes us up but by hell, so far it seems to be a million miles away.

Definitely not.

Questioning the lack of changes through poor form?

Absolutely.

And questioning the players?

Well yeah. They're the ones letting us down.

All we need is a performance.

 

I don't see anyone turning on either. But there's justified criticism and frustration. Too many of our performances show the same flaws, and we're not getting the level of performance we should given the investment made in the squad.

Our home form simply isn't good enough.

 

It's easy for me to slag the team off after the shower off shite I've just witnessed.
The tactics deployed by Hughes are starting to really upset a lot of supporters.
It's almost like Derek Adams part two with his obvious stubbornness the way we set up.
We want to stay in the Cup as long as possible bellowed Hughes in his pre match interview.
Bit of advice Mark make sure your players understand to win a football game you have to put the ball in the opposition's net without the need to pass back all the time towards our own goal.
That might help and it would certainly please the home support.

 

As blessings go it's a bit of a shit one though

 

After last season anyone but Exeter will be a plus.

 

Lets make sure they only get 27 tickets and stick them in Block A of the Sunwin Lower

We're super City and we're gonna keep trying to pass the ball sideways and backwards because it's the right way to play despite not being very good at it and looking toothless so we'll end up with another year in League 2 but at least we can blame the referees and time wasting opposition.

Hughes may glitter, but he is certainly not gold. He is not even a polished turd.
Adams would have been flogged out of town for performances like this. Stockport , Swindon, Crawley and Harrogate at home.
No wins and did not look like winning any of them. One man up front at home, is terrible and today in the FA cup , just bloody go for it, it was a free hit.

It’s ok sticking to your guns but ffs we are to predictable not one of us on here has managed at a professional level of football but I can guarantee we could all pick a system to suss us out ................. it’s fooking slow it’s boring he’s been possibly been getting away with results down to the keeper and defence in all honesty I would even say our posistion is false .............. out of all games this season how many have we actually dominated ?????? Amazed if it’s anything over 3 ................. in actually confident we won’t concede many goals but that counts for nothing if we ain’t scoring

Honestly I thought we would be out of this league come the end of the season but to me it’s another false dawn ............ it’s really no better than Bowyer and Adams it really isn’t

 

They really aren't and it's not even an argument because their playing careers can be compared in black and white.

3 average months at City doesn't make Smallwood a poor player.

 

Don't know how we do it but we've managed to get through to round one yet again... !!

 

Bonfire night is horrendous in Bradford for the emergency services.
Right idea if we are playing Saturday, get the game done and the fans home safely before the local idiots start their antics.
