He was only on Loan and had already gone back to Leeds as his Injury had basically ruled him out for the season

Well personally, thats the ruthlessness I wanted to see! Wood has it in his locker but clearly hasn't been arsed about staying, AOC - over rated, struggled to pass forward and a constant in our decline. Pleased they've got rid of the rest of the dead wood, just Evans to manufacture a move for now. Glad they've kept Hornby and Sikora. Foulds obviously shows something in training, heard his fitness levels had been an issue, perhaps the new fitness and conditioning set up will help us see the best of him. A whole new forward line needed. Busy summer ahead

I'm in parlance with the club on all of the players released.
In fact, I'm disappointed that there's several still under contract, that we'll still have at the club throughout next season.
The likes of AOC did well this season for us, professional, often putting his body on the line, and seemed happy enough often playing a utility role.
However, if we want out of this division, then there's no room whatsoever for sentiment, or making do with what we have.
Bolton is the blueprint, from January they were head and shoulders the best team in this division.
None of the released players, and many still under contract would get a sniff of their first team.
Dallying with playoffs shouldn't be an option, next season top three has to be the grail.
I'm happy with the players offered new contracts, they're seen as potential, and ( hopefully) have to improve to break into what will be the first team.
New (ish) CEO, new Manager, 50% new squad, new backroom team, let's hope it gives rise to a new era of progression.

I think Wood and OConnor can leave here with there heads held high despite what some people might say. I believe in a underachieving team they have given their best and have been reasonably consistent. I think they both will find new clubs and in Woods case it might be in the league above

What a complete joke we are starting again from scratch how can people be happy letting wood go , never missed a game plus would get better and better in a good team , where’s all the money coming from to start again .if you think o Conner and Canaan are the answer at back ,they are far to slow as his Staunton

I suspect the Wood decision was down to finance. Remember, he came from a premier league U23 team, like Joe Riley, and we were in League 1 at the time. I'm guessing we believe we can get an as-good left back for less money. I'd have liked to keep Novak as an option up front but, again, suspect finances played a part in that decision too. I'm happy with all the ones they've kept on and means we definitely don't need another centre half. We need first choice fullbacks with FCD and Foulds/Staunton as back-up for them. I'm glad we've got rid of aging players and those who've only known failure here (Wood and AOC). We need hungry players with a winning mentality.

Aye, good centre forward in my early teens. Died at the very young age of 64.

He was Yorks messia on two or three occasions!

Wood has had his head turned and imo hasn't pushed on in 20/21 as he could and should have done. In fact judging him on his recent performances, he has gone backwards.

He is very pally with Vaughan and Vaughan has been 'mentoring' him on how to manage his career! When I heard that when SMc was still in charge, I feared the worst for Wood. It comes as no surprise that he hasn't been offered a new deal at VP.

If it is to be believed that Adams is our Man, and at the moment the only potential proof is that , it is understood an agreement is in place with someone and you'd suggest if it was someone not currently employed then why not announce.
Then you are very naive (Which I dont have you down for) that Adams would have zero input. At the very least it would have been put to him (in their contract negotiations), is there anyone out of contract at the end of this season that you desperatly want .
    The answer there lies

I'd have preferred it had it been 10 .. with another going via mutual consent! ;)

I thought the whole idea of a director of recruitment was for situations like this when managers leave then the whole business doesn’t grind to a halt. Having said that I am sure if they have agreed terms with a manager there will have been some imput. The new Managed might already be in place but can’t be revealed yet due to a previous contract

Wood made it clear last summer he was getting homesick, this was always going to be his last season up here. Other than him then, who would you have kept?

As for where do we get the money to replace them, pretty obvious, from the saved salaries the released players were getting

Heard AOC wouldn’t take the reduced terms on offer so has gone to try elsewhere. Doubt Novak was on big money but maybe too much to be in and out of team as much as he has been? At this level anyway. We need players who can manage 35 games plus a season

Hornsby will be No1 or the seasons over before it starts. Canavan will have a huge say in that call!
