Not taken a single point after going behind all season.

That’s pathetic and tells you everything about the character of this side.

Hopefully the last two games ARE down to a change in approach.

We need more quality - fast. 3 of the back 4 need replacing but we’ve seen that in the right system, a back 4 of Chicksen, NkP, OC/McG, Caddis can keep clean sheets.

We need a quality striker, midfielder and left sided player, pronto. Not just speculative punts - players of real quality. It’s literally pointless bunging Payne a few grand a week extra if we’re not going to strengthen the areas needed. Keeping him was important but it doesnt make us ANY stronger than the side who’s been in the bottom 4 all season.

You obviously didn’t see last weeks game. Today was a carry on from that.

Well we weren’t in this for 90. I personally thought this was worse than last week. They had a good game plan that they didn’t need to change. Our game plan was poor, and we didn’t really have another. The defence didn’t perform because they were being hit direct from the countless attacks. Akpan showed no desire or inclination to get involved, midfield was either bypassed or overrun, and our attack received no useful service, as a result.

All the long balls from our keeper just about drove me to distraction, he didn’t pass it out to the defenders, there was no determination to run at them. They were really good, and stopped Payne from receiving the ball if it got through, but they also nullified Ball and Lewis, they did a number on us.

Wrap all that lot up, and it is no surprise we got smacked 0-4.

Maybe it’s just me, but did anyone else worry about the body language of the players yesterday?

Didn’t look right from the start. Slow to get sorted on set pieces, heads down etc.

4-0 didn’t flatter them one bit. We were truly awful, not one thread of positivity can be taken from today. Hopefully this ‘blip’ can be rectified next Saturday.

Beginning to think the blip was our form in December. We seem to be back on form now.

Remember when people didn't want us to win against Scunthorpe because we were going to finish mid table any way?

    Oh, how we laughed.

Knee jerk reaction to a bad day at the office. Southend deserve credit for scoring 4 class goals.

    Couldn't agree more.

If it wasn't for that we'd have earned a very good 0-0 draw.

I thought we got away with one, keeping them at 4. That was as bad as any performance this season, including Wycombe.

Regards Akpan l, i agree with you to some extent. He doesn’t inspire me as a player but he wasn’t the worst player on the pitch on Saturday. Hopkins tactics hang him out dry somewhat, the long ball tactics left him in no mans land time and again. We desperately need another CM amongst other signings and they have to be this week as we are running out of time. Our inactivity has already seen us drop back into the bottom two and todays reading in the T and A has left me worried that these players may not come at all.

It’s difficult to comprehend that this is the same team that thrashed Rochdale, Walsall and Stanley only weeks ago.

We win 4-0, 3-0, then lose 3-0 and 4-0. Mind boggling.

If what I’ve heard with Ball is right - make it conditional. 6 month deal with an automatic 12 month extension if we stay up.

We aren’t a good team so it’s no surprise we get hammered a fair few times over the season. It doesn’t mean we are certainties for relegation just means we’re in a relegation fight (which we all knew).

I still think we can stay up, we’ve shown, during that good run, that we can score goals and win games so we just need to make sure we can go on another similar run before the end of the season. Likewise, with results and performances like this, we could easily get relegated. Our season is still very much in the balance.

But wait, there's more! Only twice in 16 league matches have we even come back to level terms after falling behind...before, of course, going on to lose. Worser and worser...

Just when you think some character is developing -- the reaction to the Sunderland defeat was just what was wanted -- they come up with yesterday.

Andf to cap it all, about a foot of snow has fallen over yesterday and last night, and my snowblower has been inspired by City and given up! Grrrr!

That first goal of theirs was brilliant. Yeah, it wasn't from 30 odd yards like the other two, but the way he hit it with the outside of his boot, in such a small amount of time/space, was exceptional. If I was in the Kop, I would have applauded that goal.

I hope it was just another bad day at the office(We have certainly had a few). Silly thing is, we know they can play but midfield was non existent today, hence all the aimless booting upfield. O'Brien was having a bad day(missing his namesake?) and Akpan doesn't look as though he cares. For all the calling of Doyle, there was no way he was going to outjump their CDs. Would have been more interesting if we had kept the ball down like we were doing in December.
