The tipster in the Racing Post has put us up at 7/4 tonight. Think he said that although they got a good result in the cup, in the league they've not won in their last eight in the league and been nilled three times.

Win BTTS might be a good shout. We look shaky again at the back and they have the worst away record in the division don't they? BTTS no draw maybe as well?

When you consider we travel to Portsmouth then host Peterborough (who are better away from home) and top-of-the-table Luton in March, it looks like February is the most important month of the season for us. Massive, massive month ahead.

Here are the fixtures to the end of Feb:

    Us:
SHREWSBURY (tonight), Wycombe, FLEETWOOD, PLYMOUTH, Walsall

    Wimbledon:
    Sunderland, BURTON, Walsall, Rochdale, CHARLTON

    Bristol Rovers:
PETERBOROUGH (tonight), Southend, SHREWSBURY, Doncaster, Portsmouth, SUNDERLAND

    Oxford:
BARNSLEY (tonight), Burton, SUNDERLAND, PETERBOROUGH, Accrington, Blackpool

    Gillingham:
ACCRINGTON (tonight), Coventry, BARNSLEY, SCUNTHORPE, Sunderland, Wycombe

    Shrewsbury:
Bradford (tonight), LUTON, Bristol Rovers, BURTON, Peterborough, DONCASTER

    Plymouth:
    Peterborough, PORTSMOUTH, Bradford, ROCHDALE

    Walsall:
    ROCHDALE, Blackpool, WIMBLEDON, Coventry, BRADFORD

Agree with that. Their away record is the worst in the league. W1 D5 L8 GF12 GA21

I went to the Shrewsbury game at the start of the season, it was a good day out.

It's a shame that on their return trip to ourselves we are in this relegation battle.

I am finally accepting that we really are in a relegation battle.

WE WILL STAY UP THOUGH!! We're going to survive relegation and get all 3 points against Shrewsbury tonight.

    COME ON CITY!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Actually as we have played 29 out of 46 and will have chalked upanother game tonight we are far closer to only a third of a season left. So I am certainly seriously worried, to not be so, is a little disingenuous.

I am not panicking, obviously concerned but plenty of points to play for. I just don’t think you can predict anything other than it s tight.

Guess who didn't back his own tips and decided to do an accumulator involving Man united winning instead.:joy:

Ha, I share your pain, Granby. Was in Betfred and they were doing a price boost on Man City, Man Utd and Arsenal all to win. I ended up banging the lot in with City, who were 6/4. You know the rest!

The other half had, City, Luton and Wolves, but Blackpool let him down for £500!

I don't think its league positions that determine the results. Its a case of if our style of play is best suited to beat the opposition. We played POSH under evans 3 times in a matter of weeks and didnt lose to them once in normal time. Evans style of football we could deal with.
Its the quick passing mobile teams like Luton and Barnsley we come unstuck against.
Pompey at home we had enough chances to get at least a point. A lot of pundits have commented on their style not been easy on the eye but getting results, again we can deal with that.
Only Luton in March are a concern for me, the rest if our workrate is spot on can be close games.

As the table stands, we have 9 games of our remaining 16, against teams currently in the top 12.

To date our record against the current top 12 reads...

    Played 15 won 0, drawn 1, lost 14, F 9 A 37.

We simply have to improve this dreadful record.

Since the Gillingham debacle we ave taken 21 points from 14 games (1.5 points per game), if we can maintain that form over the remainder of the season we should reach 55 points and safety.

    That's shocking.

Some of the statistics this season are practically unheard of - in a bad way!

Another would be the grand total of TWO points gained when we have been either drawing or trailing at the half.

You're right Mrs O. A lot of points to play for and we know we are likely to be inconsistent as that has been the theme even since November. An earlier post commented on some tough games to come but all the teams looking over their shoulders have equally tough fixtures.

It will not only be downto how we do in the games left but other teams. There will be certainly ups and downs and we just have to be resolute in our support of the squad and management team.

Yes but for 4 of those 9 they are home against Blackpool and Fkeetwood and away against Cov and Wycombe. I think they are winnable. Therefore 5 which are tricky. 7 games bottom half of which majority are at home. Not quite as scary as the 9 out of 16 stat originally sounds
