I don't rate Devine or Anderson but we gave them new contracts and both are fitter.

Point is you seem not to understand the length of time Reeves has had out. It isn't normal! The Everton player who got badly injured yesterday will be back quicker that Reeves.

You can't just expect him to replace current squad players and as I say we have Cooke, Palmer, McCartan, Donaldson all returning soon enough so I don't see how Reeves even get on the bench.

Send him out on loan to prove his fitness and more chance of game time is the only solution.

Reeves wasn't bad when he was fit but he also wasn't the world beater I think some on here think he was. Factor in the lay off and I think the forum is primed for meltdown if he comes back and we don't automatically boss every game in midfield.

 

Take Donaldson and McCartan out as they play in different positions. McCartan fit or not isn't guaranteed a shirt anyway.

On Sat we had Devine, Anderson and Patrick on the bench. He replaces 1 of them. Palmer has been poor so fights it out for another place on the bench. Cooke goes straight back into the team. Squad rotation, suspensions and more injuries will happen. Reeves gets on the bench, IF he comes through practice games.

 

Practice games are like sparring in boxing.. means nothing. When Reeves gets fully tackled then you find out.

I wouldn't be putting Reeves ahead of Devine, Anderson or Palmer at this stage. Not until he's been out on loan for a month and proved himself.

 

I don't doubt your facts but it was 4 years ago and before Anderson did his knee.

He wasn't a world beater but he looked better than both Devine and Anderson from what we've seen in a City shirt.

I don't expect anything from him after such a long lay off but it sounds like he's at a place where he may be back involved at some point.

 

Most fitness coaches haven't experienced having to handle a player being out of the game for 20 months!

Don't think you're taking this matter seriously enough.

 

I completely agree about the impact by May but I'd be giving Reeves every opportunity to prove his fitness and game time as I see him as a better player than the 2 mentioned, even if he lacks a little of what he had.
