If you believe that someone is going to spend millions and not be interested in the industry that they are investing in then you need to give your head a shake.

He hired Sparks because he doesn’t care about the club and the city but he will follow the results but from Germany.

Sparks seen this and rightly took his opportunity.

The fans forum is a joke. It will be the same old shite but different day.

The sooner Rupp leaves the better for this club.

He’s chalk and cheese compared to Rhodes as CEO. He communicates with fans well, puts his head over the parapet when things go wrong and is making a very good impression with sponsors and visiting directors. Surely talking up promotion is the right thing to do if it’s realistic or would you prefer him to launch the season ticket campaign by promising a mid table finish at best. Stafford Heginbotham who was the best always talked up promotion and was always upbeat.
As for the three managers, McCall was a Rhodes appointment and the ridiculous decision to extend his contract was a leaving present from Rhodes. Sparks had to say the right things but he quickly corrected the mistake and fired McCall. Not many disagreed with Trueman and Sellars being replaced by Adams.

 

Do you have any evidence it was a leaving present by Rhodes? Seems a very tin pot thing for the club to do. End of the day it was done when Sparks’ name was ‘above the door’ so to speak. T & S not many may have disagreed with sacking them, myself included but it’s still another employee(s) sacked under his watch. Communication should always be encouraged between the club and fans, but he has to live and die by his words. Until it is fulfilled he will be held to what he said, if it goes well great he gets the praise, if not and we end mid table he will rightly face criticism for falling short.

So what has he done so far that means he will soon be getting a bigger job? You failed to answer the questions in my post. If the answer is talk more with fans, I think clubs look for a bit more than that when recruiting.

 

We shall see @WilsdenBantam if Sparks is still here in a years time. As for McCall it’s clear that Rhodes had appointed him and felt he owed him and gave him an extension to his contract just before Rhodes left. If Sparks was responsible for this decision it would seem odd to then sack him two weeks later especially with the negative comments about McCall that Sparks later said.

The one I can't fathom is if Ryan knew the manager he wanted and went about getting him in the correct manner asking permission from Morecambe we're told was as early as last December, so if he knew in his opinion Adams is the man (which I agree) why did he extend Trueman & Sellars contracts, was that a leaving present.

 

I don’t think Trueman and Sellars were on a large salary Dave and they were doing so well it was probably a reward for their success. Their results took everyone by surprise yet Adams as you say was his main target in the summer. Both of courses were offered alternative roles within the club so not cost any more for Trueman but Sellars will have to have been compensated,but nobody could begrudge him it as he did well.

 

I’m no expert but I imagine there would need to be a suitable buyer to remove Rupp from the club and I doubt they’re queuing up for that. Look how long it took Lawn and Rhodes to sell.

We should be careful what we wish for. There are far worse owners that Rupp.

Season on season continual decline under his tenure. Triffic.

 

You forgot to add brilliant commercial acumen. I was commenting at the game on Saturday how virtually every surface around the ground was now sponsored, even when we get a corner a sponsorship message comes up on the scoreboard. We haven't finished this season yet so its harsh to judge him until its over. If we are no where near the play offs then criticism will be more than justified.
Also the marketing department is now on point.

 

Just be happy, we could be Bury FFS.

 

But someone actually has gone and done just what you have said wouldn't happen. He is called Stefan Rupp.

 

Convenient timing from the club announcing this on the back of an unexpected away win and draw against top of the league, before a couple of cup ties (which if they don't go to plan we will be told the ol' cliche of we can focus on the league)

I somehow doubt they would have announced it prior to the Swindon game, when they would have REALLY been grilled.

Basically suggesting we should accept unambitious, clueless owners because they're merely keeping us liquidated. That's the general attitude of the club from top to bottom, including many of the support, that's stopped us moving forward and demanding better.

 

It’s never a bad thing bringing more money in obviously, although unless we see what the deals are worth it could be peanuts. But until the extra interest off the field translates to investment on it I doubt fans will get to excited at commercial partners coming on board, we want to see quality on the pitch not logos off it.

Our extra income has brought us players mainly not wanted by other clubs at our level. I prefer quality than quantity on and off the field.

Also it’s not transferring into extra money on the pitch and certainly not off it.

Believe it or not there are some fans who are interested in what the club has to say. We're not fools, we know the previous rhetoric conned no one, but with Adams I think he'll tell it as it is and we might actually get what it says on the tin.

 

I agree with you on the quality on the pitch for sure but at least the club is much more active on the sponsorship side. Lots of little deals will add up over time. Never a bad thing.
