Likewise there’s more to worry about than a few pyros.
I understand that some people might be bothered by them but in the main they’re pretty harmless.

I actually agree with you on that.watching the game at Hampden today and Celtic fans have put on a huge show of pyro behind the goal so it's clear they've accepted it up there. I get why we don't like it at VP as we have a very unique history but elsewhere it genuinely doesn't bother me.

Playing devil's advocate what do people on here think of the pitch invasions after Wrexham and Plymouth. After all, if we holding to the letter of the law which some on here strictly adhere to, the 1991 Football offences act strictly prohibits the entering of the football surface unless they think they have lawful reason to do so. Guessing theres gonna be a lot of empty seats at Wrexham if we adhere to those laws to the nth degree.

Will be interesting to see if anything is done. Only way to stop it, if it needs stopping, would be to say if there was an invasion then it guarantees no promotion. Suppose they would only have to do it once and fans would take note.
BTW I'm not saying I agree with it but it would stop it

I remember a match towards end of a season over 30 years ago, in my mind it was Portsmouth but probably not, whoever it was had won and their fans wanted to get on the pitch but the away end still had railings up. They went out of the ground and back into old Midland Road stand, family stand at the time, to get on the pitch. I was scared to death by these 'huge' men running up the stairs against the flow just pushing people out of the way, all to get onto the pitch to celebrate. Just shows that memories of those celebrations are not always good memories.

Edit - was Man City 88/89

    Are you for real???
Imagine if Liverpool fans hadn’t travelled to Sheffield without tickets and charged through the gates.

I never said the fans were drunk or unruly, I said they were ticketless and gained entry without a ticket.
If that’s not true then I apologise

Did I also see a red seat thrown onto the pitch?

Spot on and yes seats were thrown but I'm hearing the suggestion the players were taken 'off' due to a drone although I can't say I saw anything.
Although Crewe had us sussed and played to the strength of their speed by constantly playing it behind our back four, I'm afraid I'm with the view that our so called fans contributed to that loss. As said above 6 added minutes could have been dealt with but the extra 4 or so encouraged them to lump it forward even more.
Very bad night and I think we can expect the distinct possibility of strong action against us. Having said that and with no defence I did think that with what appeared to be half Cheshire Police car and van fleet at the ground they could have eliminated the second pyro incident.

Totally agree @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler I thought the policing was complete overkill for what they actually did.

If you are going to police an event with 150 riot police in attendance then go do your job and sort the bother instead of standing around trying to look intimidating

Not sure how it can be done but I'd start by making it as awkward as possible for them.

    1) away tickets to be sold to season ticket only
    2) no sale of under 18 tickets without the purchase of an adult ticket
    3) away team to enforce allocated seating

The collective lemming approach to the end of the match. All the players seem to lose their collective head at the end of the match. That is why leadership is so important on the pitch, if the captain panic’s then all the players follow. Sports psychologist required!

We certainly didn't help ourselves but the referee stopping the game certainly impacted on our performance once the game started again Crewe we rocking and we looked dangerous everytime we went forward, so for me the added time did us no favours but as we know from past experiance we're hardly the best team in the league with regards seeing a game out.
I'm with you our destiny is still in our own hands come Monday.

So our out of control fans must have been the reason, of course as many have said it was a small minority but unfortunatly that's all it takes.

If they are convicted of an offence, then the making of a Community Order by the courts, with a specific tariff that they attend at a designated centre from an hour before a match for a three hour Community Work Session. Say 150 hours, would see them out of circulation, put something back into Society and have time to reflect on the question, 'is it worth it'?

I'm all for action being taken on this problem of 'pyros' being used at football grounds as it can in the odd instance be physically or mentally damaging, I'm just dead set against this idea of lifetime bans. It's like some Draconian measure from the Victorian era. By all means look at a punishment to deter what is a daft thing to do. But as with most things in life people have the chance to change
