It’s also a criminal offence to stand in seated areas or smoke in the toilets but some people think rules don’t apply to them.

That's why I'd like to see safe standing rolled out across grounds, so that those who wish to sit can do so without the current issues.

And yet just like us against Liverpool all those years ago, Wrexham and Plymouth fans will remember the pitch invasions for the rest of their lives. Sharing that moment with thousands of like minded people, just like i did in that Liverpool match. Just because the world is full of rules doesn't mean they are always right.I wonder if anyone at the racecourse ground or watching at homes first thought was 'Well they really shouldn't be doing that'? I understand the need for rules, we'd have anarchy if not. But i also understand football stirs the emotions like nothing else. Its tricky.

The 'some people' who are bothered by them may be bothered because the smoke and the various chemicals it may contain can cause an allergic reaction / asthma attack / just general breathing problems. Not fun when you're in the middle of a crowd and coughing your guts out until the fit passes.
I think the saying about rules existing for the guidance of the wise and the blind obedience of the fools applies here. In general, no, pitch invasions shouldn't occur or be tolerated when they do, but sometimes they are understandable and should be welcomed, e.g. your Plymouth and Wrexham examples. As with so many things, context is important.

I would save your breath Al. His obvious anti-scouse prejudice makes him determined to believe that the Hillsborough deaths and the recent fiasco in Paris were the fault of Liverpool fans, rather than incompetence by the various authorities, despite numerous enquiries and reports providing copious evidence to the contrary.

Loyal Bantam, as a Liverpool fanatic for 58 years as well as a City one for over 60, I can safely say you are either a wind-up merchant of the worst kind, or a complete idiot who we should all feel sorry for. Liverpool supporters have never tried to avoid blame for the Heysel tragedy, but it has been conclusively proved that they did nothing wrong that contributed to either the Hillsborough disaster or the Paris debacle. Try to grow up rather than making brain dead comments just to try to deflect from your original ridiculed comments on pyro's.

Agreed. The pyromorons have fallen to the worst possible mark on the stupidity meter. A lungful of possibly toxic smoke is no fun; these people simply don't even think let alone care about the effects of their actions on others. Today we saw another possible consequence -- true we should have seen the match out, but 5 or 6 minutes would have been a lot easier than 10+.

But what would be a suitable punishment? Banning of identified perps. goes without saying, as does criminal proceedings against said perps. But after that? A fine, yes, but more importantly, I'd argue, points deductions large enough to really hurt need to be applied and not just threatened.

Of course, that means we the overwhelming majority of supporters, along with the players and staff, will be the innocents who suffer, perhaps by a promotion denied or a relegation imposed. But how else to get the message across?

I do not condone pyros but I also don’t condone is blaming a shite performance on a late winner. What are we doing if we score in 99th minute praising the pyros for so much added time ? We carnt have it both ways

As I have said previously with the number of police there last night, they must have cameras on the section of the stand where all these pyros came from. Get their faces posted all over the local newspapers and even the Bradford City website. Make it as awkward as possible for them. When identified cancel their season tickets and have police turn them away if they attempt to attend an away game.

Dave, i was behind the goal last night, the set up at Crewe was really poor , the lads at the side of me had just climbed a small barrier and moved from the side stand, meaning some people had to find other seats, stewards did nothing.
Not sure how many turnstiles for the side stand, but only 1 for behind the goal and security checking middle age women's bags, no searches of young lads. Police were out in force, but were as effective as a chocolate firegaurd, stood on street corners looking menacing, but actually doing nothing.

As I said, it was the momentum shift from the 5min delay when we had them on the ropes.
The delay allowed them to compose themselves and regroup.
I don't blame the pyros for the additional time and falling on our face, there is something more deep routed there with the number of times it has happened this season.

Worrying times ahead if that's the case and some are actually praising there use, nothing wrong with the atmosphere at Valley Parade (when the team perform) as we witnessed against Gillingham second half.

It's not that bad to be fair. There are a number of morons who do this kind of thing and they are easily identified. When you went into the ground last night you could tell that the two blocks at the end of the side stand was where all the trouble would kick off from. The rest of the stand was perfectly fine with the exception of someone tipping some drink on Mellor near the middle.

I took my daughter last night and at no stage did I feel threatened inside or outside the ground.

I do however remember the days of being a youngster and going on the official wallace arnold coaches that City used to put on to away games, and it is still like that in 90% of the away end.

The morons gravitate toward the home fans. Last night the pyros etc were in exactly the same place as they were at Rochdale.

It's obvious what would happen if the police, or stewards, tried to wade in on these people.

The fans around them would close ranks, a chant of "we're Bradford City we do what we want" would break out and the police and/or stewards would start getting pelters for trying to do something.

There has to be an element of self-policing, with it being made clear to these people that it isn't acceptable by other supporters, unfortunately for some reason some of our older fans seem to be in thrall to these youngsters and egg them on.

Fair comment, and I retract to a certain extent as it is an OTT comment on my part (still reeling and emotional from last nights result ). Also it’s clear on this message board and the many years I’ve been supporting the club that there are way, way more good honest supporters than morons. Sadly the morons seem to be the one catching the headlines all too often in recent years.

Agree with you. People can mature, change, mellow and learn to empathise with others. Most ‘offenders’ grow out of violent and related criminal behaviour by their mid 20’s.

The only caveat I would add is that ‘Serial’ or repeat offenders, if they continue with antisocial/criminal behaviour after their ban expires, and they return, do face increasingly longer bans possibly with a lifetime option.
