I'm not sure about that in its entirety. There is a moral thread, and some of what happened on 7th Oct goes way beyond any form of moral justification in support of a cause.

Ultimately though, what's happening will only foster more hate on both sides, and its a world that more and more children will be indoctrinated into.

Just my interpretation, i expect others will see differently. But if you know you are gonna be targeted by a firestorm you pick what you perceive as the best option to survive. If someone is looking to kill me my human instinct is self preservation, i'll do whatever it takes to keep fighting. There are no morals when you are searching through body parts to identify loved ones.

Yeah, that I agree with. Again, just my view, but until the world disavows itself from religion, there'll never be peace.

Yeah my view on religion is that they were never there as a symbol of peace, just a way of controlling the masses with mythical stories of grandeur.

Thanks. I thought it was really useful to understand the complexities of the situation. However, I wonder how many on here who are determined to see the conflict in a one dimensional way will be bothered to read those articles.

As much as I deride newspapers, you've at least got a chance of a decent read with the Guardian. I ain't right or left leaning but the Daily Mail is more like Hello magazine these days. Seems celebrity obsessed.

I've read it all and enjoyed learning more about the complexities of the conflict. It did feel slightly left leaning in the first article about the roots of the conflict but that might be my own bias rather than the actual article.

Think that applies to all the papers RT, because of instant 24/7 TV news coverage the papers are out of date 5 minutes after being printed...

I don't buy a paper Tone but from a neutral point of view I find the Guardian more thought provoking, the Mail just comes across as an intelligent version of the sun.

Not really. The Times, Telegraph, FT, Guardian and Independent are all still proper newspapers that focus heavily on news and current affairs. Their print versions are able to discuss issues in more depth than most TV bulletins do.
Most of them now have a ‘live news’ function on their online editions that updates all important breaking news as it happens. It’s just a shame that most of their online editions are now behind paywalls so it’s more difficult to read around an issue from varying perspectives without forking out lots of dosh. The red tops, Mail and Express are basically comics.

But religion by your own definition is a man made concept so surely something else will just replace it.

Agree about those named newspapers still being 'proper' newspapers.

I suppose it depends on your political persuasion as to which one of those you read.

You won't be surprised to learn that the Telegraph is my preferred choice for a good serious weekend read.

Still think the Mail has good articles, especially sport, although it does tend to include too many showbizzy articles and gossip these days.

    Understatement of the year.

The idea of The Guardian having 'balanced' viewpoints/articles is just total and utter nonsense.

    It's a well known left-wing rag.

Read the articles covered in the link, they've not got a completely left sided bias in them and it's actually a decent read.

I do agree with you in general terms about the guardian but not on the articles in the link, they seem a lot more balanced.

I see our wonderful police allowed some scumbags on a Free Palestine demo climb up a poppy festooned war memorial yesterday evening.

Absolutely disgusting the lack of respect afforded by these people, and the police on this particular beat

It is but it's a very well written piece. Comes from a more neutral point of view.

The police chief said it's not illegal to climb on a statue and the guy seemed to be allowed to walk away but if it had been a "right wing activist " would he have been shown equivalent restraint.
