But it cant just be dismissed Steve to side step the issue, as with most things political for every positive we can throw at an MP there will always be a negative if we delve deep enough, maybe that's the reason most MPs are held in such low esteem by much of the electorate.
As we both know things were very different 20 years ago never mind 45, unfortunately Saville's associates kept quite, the general consensus was he was a law unto himself untouchable because of the way we the general public saw him, great fund raiser, doing nothing but good we thought.
When it all came to light many posters on C&B were commenting about the situation many were suggesting as he was dead it was wrong as Saville couldn't defend himself against these allegations it was not fair to call him out, yet within 12 months or so the faces you had grown up with were paraded before the courts for doing similar deeds, Rolf Harris, DLT, Max Clifford, Stuart Hall, Fred Talbot the weatherman.

Yes, but why single out Starmer for inaction when many others in high/er places did nothing and/or actively colluded in protecting him?

Come on Steve stop being over protective for Keir Stramer, your quite right the ones who knew and some maybe joined in Saviles evil acts were a disgrace for waiting until the story got brought out into the open, many commenting at the time Saville was untouchable even Thatcher praising him for his fund raising.
It just shows what a sick society we had back then within certain circles, but it's still going on today with recently jailed top celebs like Epstein and Weinstein, and yes I do believe Prince Andrew should go to America and give evidence, I'm not sure it comes as a shock to anyone who knows Royalty form over the centuries they have a history of poor sexual behavior right up until current times.

I’m no LP supporter, but Starmer in my opinion is the best thing to happen to British politics in the recent past.
An intelligent man with an analytical mind and a good orator - perfect opposition for a government that thought it could pretty much do what it liked.

No doubt he's taken Boris to account at the dispatch box and rightly so making Boris bumble even more, but lets be fair he has plenty of ammunition since he became the opposition leader.
He's a clever bloke you don't get to be DDP without a good CV I wouldn't have thought BUT lets be honest a chimp could point score in the present climate, it's easy to be negative but as yet I've heard very little alternatives to our present situation.
Who knows if I'm around at the time of the next General Election I may return to the Labour fold but he will have to come out with far more positive stuff that he is presently.
Hes certainly up for the fight but not sure he can get enough Tories to back him on any subject, so I'm not sure the present Tory party can't still do as the like with an 80+ majority.

He'll have no chance if you and your ilk continue the smear campaigns even when the facts are laid out before you.

Anything he ever does at will be 'Ah, but he didn't send that paedo Savile down though did he' even though as you've been continually told, it wasn't solely within his remit. Like a broken record.

Certainly worth a debate about her suitability as an MP, I agree.

Its called having a balanced opposition cabinet, not necessarily the best candidates but it looks good to the masses, I believe that was quoted recently with regards the governments front bench, PC gone mad.

Seem that Priti Patel really is the wrong type of BAME and that Labour are a bit upset at not having the monopoly of crying racism, hence the letter from guess who.

I think Starmer might regret bringing the Bradford West MP onto the opposition front bench, a woman who tweeted "victims of Asian sex abuse gangs should keep quite for the sake of diversity" and her rather stupid comments with regards Israel, after seeing a picture of Israel in America she said "problem solved", and again on reading an online poll with regards the Gaza war she replied "the Jews are rallying to the poll".
But hay she's apologised so that's OK.
This is a woman who was quite happy to support Martin Fletcher with regards something that is very close to our hearts until a group of Bradford City fans had a meeting at City Hall and put he right with regards that terrible day.

I must admit that I'm rather surprised that she's been given a shadow cabinet job. It seems too much like a hostage to fortune to me.
Maybe the fact that her apology was accepted by the Board of Deputies of British Jews (not especially known for their left wing sympathies or forgiving nature) means that she's being given a chance to redeem herself.

"The Board of Deputies of British Jews said there was a clear demarcation between Shah and several others, including Ken Livingstone, who had been suspended by Labour for alleged antisemitism.

“Naz Shah stands out as someone who has been prepared to apologise to the Jewish community at a local and national level, and make efforts to learn from her mistakes,” a spokesperson said. “In that regard, her reinstatement today seems appropriate and we would hope for no repeat of past errors.”

As I said, I'm not convinced it's a wise decision but I can only imagine this is the reason behind it.

We agree on this one then Steve, that tweet is a disgrace, Gaslighting at it's best, but Priti Patel is made of stronger stuff, I'd think most fair minded people after reading that tweet will back her, Keir must be steaming with that sort of bullying ?.

The voice of New Labour the way forward . ( Old labour in a new suit )
Love it . @Offcomedun@Offcomedun , i dont really care Naz Shah had her " Appology " accepted by the Jewish community it's just words , a redemtion of the shite she spouted . Its her loud mouth disgraceful totally racist tweets about grooming , this really boils my blood .
She is my Mothers MP , she still is despite a 40k petition to deselect her . Because of the ward demographics she's untouchable .

We agree that appointing Naz Shah to the shadow cabinet is probably not a sensible move. However, I very much doubt we agree over Patel. I think I've already made my views on Priti Patel clear on here, long before the current BLM furore. This is the woman who was forced to resign her previous ministerial post after being caught trying to channel foreign aid money to the Israeli army by the back door.
Regardless of her ethnicity, you'd hardly expect me to like a hard-line authoritarian right winger as Home Secretary and, unsurprisingly, I don't.

I honestly wonder why Starmer made the Naz Shah appointment with he outspoken views with the three examples I posted, she would have those comments throw straight back at her every time there was a bit of controversy.
The tweet alone was unnecessary and certainly didn't make the signatures look good, as I said Gaslighting without doubt and I'd also suggest bullying, but nothing surprises me any more with modern day politics.
