    It’s a stark contrast to Bowyer wasting pre season games by packing the side with a team of trialists as he did with all the games against local non league sides.

    Early days tonight of course but I enjoyed watching us attack with pace and purpose in contrast to the slow and ponderous crap we've seen over recent years. Hopefully a sign of what's to come.

    The difference tonight and I know unlike are usual pre season games we played strong sides is the level of fitness so early. Usually in these first friendly games we look laboured and quite frankly knackered but not tonight

    Park - i didn't see any of it but if your comments are right on the fitness, it's music to my ears. A whole lot of posters raised the issue of fitness (or lack of) last season. I think Sparks alluded to it too. Something had to be done and the signs are promising that efforts have been made to rectify the situation.

    Think you are once again going OTT.

    We played a strong side against a weak one. Of course we will look fitter.

    It’s pretty season I don’t think the lads are at the peak of their fitness as yet after the first game. Madness comment.
