Pre season friendlies

I like their centre half big strong and good on the ball

 

Very poor second half.

 

Town "B" team ran us ragged second half
Thought Donaldson was impressive when he came on

 

Not as bad as I thought it’d be. Watt, Cooke and Pritchard have the makings of a good midfield. A chronic lack of pace up front though. We desperately need some more quality in forward areas. And more depth in midfield.

As I say, I’d be tapping up Town for a couple of their kids on loan.

 

The lad Rowe was useful second half

 

Well... we're not as good as the Dog Botherer's academy team, which is mighty depressing! I'd love an academy like theirs. Ismael clearly can't play RWB, Our front line clearly isn't mobile enough. As if either needed to be pointed out. Other than that it's as you were

 

Donaldson looked like he needed oxygen near end

Only been on 15 mims!!!

 

Looked good until half time then looked knackered, more minutes in the tank though.

 

Yeah, I’d definitely take him. Very athletic, pacey, composed on the ball.

 

highlighted some of the issues we are having. Very much a lack of pace in the second half as the younger side were able to press us better. a younger replacement for Novak, a CDM and an RB would do me nicely. someone with a bit more pace up front.

 

Good first half but sloppy second. Need to up the pace against Bolton.

 

Overall a decent runout with some of the teams first 90 minutes but we looked incisive first half less so second

 

Attempted shot at end gave away was clarke

 

Critchlow was it? Looked very good. The small lad n all, Ostefield or summat, he was good... reeckon he could do alright at the side of the three if that's what we're going with

 

Familiar problems in the final third for City.
More players and ideas needed, but we knew that.
Not a thumping defeat so there is that.
Plus it is the pre-season and we never take it that seriously.

 

Agree with this. Ismail was very average, Novak could have stayed at home and while Watt and Cooke were OK our midfield was still very open in that second half.
Our lack of depth and poor options on the bench were reflected in our subs.
We played well for the first 10 minutes but that starting 11 for Huddersfield were like strangers and this was their first game.

 

My thoughts for anyone that gives a flying...

Paudie - Played like the CB I thought we were getting when we signed him!
Staunton - I'd much rather have Reece in the team than BRE, I think he could make the starting 11 quite easily. Mistake for their first but definately something to work on.
Cooke & Watt - 1st half showed they can play, think it's a nice duo in the middle of the park.
Guthrie - Lots wrote him off but I think there's a player there but desperately needs someone quick to play off him for me.
Novak - Really poor...


Enjoyable first half then really outplayed second half but Towns youth team, looked like some talented lads in that t udders second half team which we should be taking a look at for potential loans. As is obvious, we need another striker to play up top with Guthrie who can stretch teams and run in behind.

 

Fitness and sharpness looked way off so close to the season. No pace, no aggression and schooled by an under 18s team second half. We’re so short on so many things, gonna be a long, depressing season.
