Stunning defending.

 

I fear we have too many options. I think the best 11 players just can't play at the same time. There just isn't a decent formation to suit. 3 at the back scares me too be honest. Last season only needed a few tweaks to a reliable defence. A new left back who attacks down the line and crosses into the box. A pacy left centre half to replace Crichlow. Going forward Patterson to replace Gilliead, a right winger to replace banks and the lad from Brentford to replace Halliday.

 

Behave yourself, we cant keep sacking managers!!! Disgarceful to call for the head of a play off losing manager.

Hughes has a year left and he should see it out and then the club makes the relevant call.

 

We were not too far away from promotion last season, a bit of quality tweaking was required to improve us.

Really happy with the signing of Pattison to give us more threat from central midfield.

My main concern is the defence which in the main was solid last season, however, central defence has been weakened this summer and the formation of 3 at the back is going to make our defence a sieve in my opinion with the players we have.

 

As Johnny Nash sang 'There are more questions than answers ' which isn't really where you want to be after all your preseason games and preparation! We look very stodgy in certain areas and I do worry whether Hughes has total clarity of mind in what he wants us to do.
Guess we'll start to find out in the coming weeks

 

There's a lot of hope rather than confidence going into the new season for me. Like you, I hope Taylor turns out to be better than he has looked it pre season, same goes for Oduor. I hope Smith is not going to be another injury prone forward that never really gets going with us because they spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. I hope McDonald will be able to feature in more than a handful of games, and I hope the players we've yet to bring in, however many of them there turn out to be, add real quality to the squad. I wish I felt more optimistic but I just feel a bit flat at the moment.

 

Appreciate it’s not going to happen but how can any football fan in league 2 not want Billy Sharp. He’s a fantastic intelligent footballer and I would argue if ends up in this league will score a hatful. Would release in Oliver and Derbyshire in a heart beat for him.

 

After sheff utd played Wrexham last season there was issues between sharp and Wrexham fans and let's not forget PP tried strangling him. He ain't going to Derby or Wrexham.

 

I missed very little as he was right in my line of sight from my seat in the Sunwin during his days as our manager, there are very few managers who don't argue as you call it, keep your eyes open at the home against Colchester Hodges and Hughes never shut up it's all part of the modern game trying to put pressure on match officials to give decisions to them Evans and Paul Raynor are at it every game home or away, Paul Jewell was another he was a master at it, at one game (QPR away I believe) a police women actually called him out with regards his antics and bad language.
And rightly so to the challenge was shocking given the game was a pre season friendly, if it hadn't been Manchester United and a friendly there is not doubt Nathan Bishop would have walked, and you wonder why he was annoyed his star striker out for weeks,
with regards Reynolds he needs to get a little more involved with the game rather than making comments about Bishops apologies after the event.
With regard his so called lies about Bolton and why he left Bradford City your wrong as I've posted many times, but you believe Rahic's take on the situation, the same Rahic who many challenged every word that was posted by many on here with regards what Rahic was doing and where he was taking our club.

Yes me and the grandson are going, they sold well over 700 last week we could take a 1,000+ for a pre-season friendly, great that Bradford City have backed the new club hope they get back into the ELF asap.

 

I can't wait to meet Fordy on the Corn Dolly bus.

 

I think a lot of clubs stream their friendlies these days, or at least some of them. We got to watch the Sunderland last season, Huddersfield the season before and as above the two so far this season.

Unfortunately we’re still behind on things like this, even if it just cost the same as a match ticket I think it would be worth it.

 

Not sure about infrastructure, thought it was more a case cannot be bothered.

Bury put a great you tube stream on a lot better picture than I follow. Avenue put one on against us a couple of seasons ago.

Agreed but they need to work on the new defensive line up. A good team in Getafe cut us open time and time again and Bolton scored 5. I know these games are about fitness but they are also about tweaking formations and leaking goals isn’t good

 

Swindon lost 6-1 today to Bristol City, it happens. Tbh players don’t put their bodies on the line like in the league and rightly so, there’s nothing riding on the game, so it’s not uncommon for more goals than usual to go in.
