Are you mad ? You can get a six course tasting menu at Six By Nico, with wine, for that. The full Monty at Sakusamba is only £51 and that's literally death by food.

You are right. £65 is ridiculous. As a pensioner it is well out of my price range anyway.

They must have been a bunch of pretentious idiots then. Clearly more money than sense if they pay that

It's not just about the 1st team it's about ever team within the club including the junior teams, women's teams and disability team. Some people might just want an evening of getting out, having a few drinks and a bit of fun, it's really not as deep as you are making it out. It's also a good evening for the sponsors and a way of thanking them.

Really? Well the majority of us (95-97% ish?) only follow the Mens first team and that is what we judge whether it is worth celebrating or not. With the almost guaranteed bottom half finish, communications at an all time low, fan empathy to the club at an all time low, the awful quality of the first team squad, supporter group protests, and probably half ST sales for next season compared to this season, the POTY should be cancelled. It is nothing more than a kick in the balls to the fans. Give it to Halliday on the pitch either before KO or after the full time whistle on the last home game, and leave it at that

Anyway, hope you enjoy your evening. I'm sure you will enjoying mixing with the likes of Sparks & Gent

It's just a back slapping event where the club can pretend it's fine and dandy and everyone's doing a jam up job.

Lipstick on a pig springs to mind.

You were asked the other day by @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart about the extent of your connection with the club and whether you were employed there. I don't recall you responding to his question. You're clearly very knowledgeable about what the club does off the pitch which is helpful at times. Would you mind answering his question now so then everybody can understand the context of your responses and observations on the club's activities? It's simply a matter of courtesy to fellow posters.

No I don't work for the club.

I really don't understand what is so wrong about people being able to have an enjoyable evening if that is what they like to do without being told they should be named and shamed. If you, Steve or anyone else doesn't want to acknowledge the junior, women's and disability sides don't exist then that's up to them but it is wrong to criticise others for wanting to be celebrate them. Some people like to go with their child as it's a chance to meet the players. It seems to be ignored that I have criticised the club on many occasions on here, if I think the club has done something wrong I'll say so.

The reason I've been able to comment on bits around the ticketing and how it will work is that I work in sport and i've worked with a few different ticketing companies. Through that I knew our previous deal was expiring and the reasons why we might have decided to change mid-season. I posted a while ago saying that the club weren't being entirely truthful about why they were changing supplier, I've criticised the comments from ticket office staff blaming the system when that isn't the issue it is either poor planning or poor training or both.

I have eaten in some very high end restaurants (Grantley, Black Swan, Star, Mana to give context) as well as football it is something l really like. I have never ever seen a desert cost more than £65! Can you reference the establishment and a link to the menu. Perhaps @millario@millario could confirm that as being a price for a desert?

I have been to the POTY awards about 3 times and enjoyed the events hugely. It gives you a chance to meet the players in a convivial atmosphere.
Last year was just before the play offs and there was a good buzz. I was able to speak to Sam Stubbs who sat on our table, Scott Banks and Harry Lewis.
I am not going this year partly because it is now £65 and at Cedar Court. Secondly the season has been disappointing and not much to celebrate.
I don't think we should criticise those who do want go though. It's up to them. There is no need for naming and shaming, it's nobody else's business.

Totally agree. If you want to go, then it really is up to you. I find the price of £65, for what is mass produced, ‘hotel’ food somewhat over the top.
I stayed at a reasonable hotel in Helmsley. You can get a starter for under £10, Main courses for £25 and a dessert for under £8. Even with higher mark ups, then say £49.50, would be a reasonable price.

Perhaps the event is being overseen by Kadima Sports, in what will only be their 2nd event, hence the over-inflated rip-off price? Just a thought!

Just had a look at the Cedar Court menu. Most expensive starter - £9, main £18 and all desserts £7, so the most a 3 course meal would cost you is £34.

Yes, but they probably got better fare than tinned peaches and a dollop of ice cream. This is at cedar Court, hardly little chef quality, let alone Michelin Starred.

I've eaten at The Ivy (original one, not the cheaper grills etc) and the Dorchester, and the only thing over £65 was the wine. I doubt even L'Eclumbe at Cartmel charge £65 for a desert.
