Happy to come away with a point in what was an entertaining game, which was dominated by a gale force wind, which made judging the ball near impossible. We now need to follow this up with a home win or two.
Meanwhile, my train pushes northwards towards Bristol. Just another 3 and a half hours 'til I get back in my local pub in Stafford.
All in all its been a very positive 8 days. We're Bradford City and we're on our way back!

To be honest, we played pretty well. If it wasn't for the three set piece goals, I'd say we actually defended alright too. Mellor, out of position, was pretty solid, winning headers and tackles. O'Connor made some cracking blocks. I thought our full backs didn't perform that well. Caddis looked leggy, and Chicksen, I still can't understand how he's picked over Wood. But ofc they all messed it up marking from corners and set pieces. Shocking and frustrating.
OB was his usual busy self in the centre, while Henry was a bit out of the game. No need to say how good Payne was. Took his goals well and looked creative on the ball.
Ball and Doyle work hard, but you can tell Doyle is a poacher type who is just yearning for some decent balls to feet into the box. Miller ran his socks off putting the CBs under constant pressure. Took his goal well and was unlucky not to get a few more. It's nice to see a forward finally have a one on one chance with the keeper.
Can't blame Hopkin for bringing Jim OB on and taking Doyle off when we were winning. Perhaps he was the only one watching who thought we'd keep the lead.
All in all an entertaining game in terrible conditions. If the keepers just passed it out to the full backs instead of trying to kick it into/against the wind, it would have been much more rewarding for them. Saying that, the Plymouth keeper had a shocking kicking display, and a few times we almost benefited.
Did we deserve to win? Not sure. We took the lead three times from open play, only to give it away almost immediately. Same old story. As many have said, a point before the game would have been taken. We'd have lost this one 3-1 a few months ago.Hulmebantam, Jayteebee, Ricky and 5 others like this. -

But @How pointed out that Walsall have lost five of their last six away games and scored only once in those games. By contrast, we have lost only one of our last six games.
Your response was immediately negative (just as it always was when we were consistently moving up the league year on year under Parky). You completely ignored the fact that we are recently scoring more goals and losing fewer games (despite our shite defence) and are playing a team with a very poor away record.
Nobody needs telling that we are not very good. We all know that all too well. But there are recent crumbs of comfort in the demise of Rahic, the appointment of McElhone, the return of JR, the promise of January funds and the improvement in results since the start of November. Although the odds are against us avoiding the drop, recent events give some hope. Then along you come with your immediate and predictable messages of doom.
You occasionally have some good points to make but they get lost in the unremitting negativity. You're like the boy who cried wolf - it's hard to recognise when your criticisms are valid because you make them even when they're not. You seem to revel in it. When things go well for a while you're nowhere to be seen.
The only thing that's making this terrible season bearable is the the possibility of a heroic escape. It probably won't happen but I want to hold on to that possibility. I don't need you telling me how crap we are every five minutes.Allotment Bantam, XCIV_Bantam, WibseyBantam and 3 others like this. -
Catching 06:11 train from Leeds.
Hotel booked for tomorrow night.
They've several defenders missing.
I've a feeling that we'll edge it by the only goal.Inspector, Utters0, Skyebantam and 2 others like this. -

Point’s no good. We need wins in games like this.
Having said that, a month ago we’d probably be losing 3 nowt. A crumb of comfort.Onside, Rogered Tart, CT Bantam and 1 other person like this. -
Its a tough place to go but no reason why we can't get a result. We are getting better and starting to get a few lucky breaks. There's good feeling around the club for the first time in a long time and I really hope the players can capitalise on that. Going into three home games on the back of a win at Plymouth would be huge. That said, a draw wouldn't be the end of the world. Losing would be an absolute killer.
No idea how we will set up with the talk of a fully fit squad. Even with it away from home, Payne has to play - hopefully Hopkin learned that lesson at Luton.CT Bantam, Bantam@{Lancs} and Onside like this. -

Home Park is not a happy hunting ground for us; the last three visits have produced no goals and just one point. Very strong winds forecast for tomorrow, which could make it very difficult for both sides.
I'll be going down on the train, so I'm hoping that the weather doesn't cause any significant travel disruption.
I'd take a point from this one.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Skyebantam, Bigrod and How like this. -

Realistically I would settle for a draw.
It would continue to build an unbeaten run. Would prevent Plymouth from pulling away from us. Psychologically it would be more positive to us than them.
Clearly this isn’t a ‘must win’ game, but to lose would be a big set back.
Like absolutely every game City go into, I hope we get a resounding victory, but then I live in the real world of 2018!Damo, RonnieBrown and Bronco like this.
