Assume Caddis isn’t fit and Payne, well I get it. He’s been unaffective last few weeks and perhaps needs 1-2 good impact appearances from the bench to get his mojo back.

Not disappointed with this team, providing there are two up top and Akpan sitting deeper to deal with Maddison.

 

Caddis and Payne are as culpable, arguably more, as the others for the two previous shockers

Hence, it shouldn't be seen as strange that they're dropped. It sends a signal out to every player, that they are not guaranteed places

 

Or you could interpret them not being there so as not to attract questions about Rahic/Hopkin/general negativity i.e. unhelpful, when the focus should be on the new manager and looking forward - which it was.

What future plans would you like to hear about at this stage? We don’t even know which division we’ll be in yet.

Argeed. We can’t argue about Hopkin getting team selection wrong then complaining when Bowyer changes it. All for it myself.

 

Sometimes things need shaking up in team selection.

Payne is a luxury and has gone off the boil so needs to fight for a spot, Jermaine Anderson is ex posh so worth a punt.

We give so much away in the air he’s gone for height. Plus he knows all about Mellor as a player and Mellor will know what he wants

 

I can see the logic with both changes. Possibly in the case of Caddis he might not be entirely fit, but Bowyer knows Mellor well. He also brings more height.

Anderson in for Payne gives more energy and more height again.

No idea if it’ll work, but it wasn’t working anyway - how much worse can we get?

 

Caddis only trained Thursday and Friday. Probably not fully fit
