Winning is all that matters, some fans make me laugh talking about styles then you get a Swindon in 15/16 who do nothing but pass and get relegated. I’d take winning over tiki taka any day.

However he is doing garbage there, he’ll be gone if his record doesn’t improve. Some players and managers work at some clubs but not at others for whatever reason, doesn’t change what he did with us.

You mean those poor defenders who were part of the team that were in the top 6 until December, I think most know "NOW" what happened post McCall sacking.

 

The back four when we got to the play off final was made up of two McCall signings in Vincelot and NKP and McMahon who played right midfield under Parkinson not defender, only Meredith was the same. And a winger sparky hardly used in Marshall and Dieng at centre mid, think it’s fair to say it was a McCall team tbf.

 

No you quoted the defenders McCall brought in during his second season, as I say the same defenders that had us in the top 6 until December, yes you your dad and many others thought we were over achieving but we were still there until he was sacked, some thought Rahic rightly sacked him unfortunately many others new his reason.
You quote McArdle, Meredith and Darby, the only one McCall didn't offer a contract to was Darby, Meredith as you say was possibly a done deal but he wanted to keep McArdle and once Rahic said the offer was the only one on the table most knew McArdle would not stop, McCall openly said McArdle wouldn't have a problem getting a better offer, and was proved to be correct.

No idea, it has been a couple of years since I went other than visits to Wembley. It’s ok, lots to see and do, but after a couple of days I start to miss Yorkshire.

He'll get them promoted while the fans whinge, and he'll be gone about ten games into the Championship season.

 

I don't think this is a good appointment for a club of Sunderland's stature. Parky is a good manager for clubs who are in crisis where he can go in and try to repair a club and somewhere he and his style of football will be afforded more time and patience by the fans because of whatever is going on in the background. Sunderland don't only need to go up this season but really need to be aiming for promotion to the premier league quite soon, something I don't think Parky's style of football will allow. If it's a short term appointment just to get them out of league one then I think he'll probably do fine.

Sunderland fans' main gripe with Jack Ross was that he was defensive and negative, so you can't imagine Parky will be afforded much patience if the results aren't instant.

But good luck to him, he gave me the best memories ever supporting this club.

 

Sunderland fans are living in the past expecting a "big name" managerial appointment. Phil Parkinson has proved he can manage successfully at 3rd division level.
