Pattison isn't an attacking midfielder, he plays much better and far more dangerous when playing deeper so that he can either arrive late or make runs into the space.

He's also got bags of energy to get up and down so it's completely wasted playing behind a striker.

Either way, neither have provided value for money this season, like many of the players.
In an ideal world , i would keep both at the club, plenty more i would show the door to before these two.
The reality is though, we probably will struggle to keep both with what looks like it might be reduce finance for next season.
By the way, i would love £4000 per week.

I like him and he is a really good player at this level. However, we can’t afford too many passengers. He has been injured a lot. I like an incentive salary if he will accept as that way we are not paying twice for an injured replacements.

Don't think you can play your best game if at the back of your mind you're thinking that you are going to lose a few months pay if you go in to that tackle too hard...

If we are going on a leaner squad, say 22 players at an average of £3000 per week each ,£156,000 per player per annum or £3,432,000 a year playing budget. That's 13728 @ £250 season tickets to be sold.
Something will have to give .Not all the players will be on that sort of money, but even at an average of £2000 per week
we will need to shift approx 10000 adult tickets.
But if the season ticket sales turn out to be as low as some are predicting, then we a re royally fooked as the saying goes.

I am sorry I don’t have any answer's. I doubt we will renew. We are distraught we want our club back. My son who goes to every game has just said he isn’t going he can’t stand it either. .

Its an issue within the football world. Maximum wage with incentives would be good for the whole of football.
Turkey's do not vote for Christmas though and will keep on going with stupid wage demands until all the lower clubs go bust.
The premier league dullards do not care what knock on issues they cause further down the ladder.

Me and the lad are renewing, more out of a sense of loyalty than the product on offer.
I dislike the present owners as much as anyone. I just do not want to think by staying away i was as much to blame as them for any demise.
I have 2 young grandsons i would like to start taking to games, i know, child cruelty and all that. But i was here long before the present owner and hopefully will still be attending long after he has sailed into the sunset.
Hopefully still in the football league.

I know it is a dilemma. However as a supporter and fan it is not up to us to keep the ship afloat when Rupp will not even discuss with the fans our problems. No press release or anything remotely engaging. I have supported this club through thick and thin but this level of arrogance is beyond belief. We have a week left to claim our seats but I doubt there will be a stampede for our seats even if we don’t book them before the 7th April. I fully understand your position and we keep changing our minds. I hate the club for putting fans in this position.

Its not the club though, the club is so much more than a bloody minded individual.
Match day is about the time spent with my son, the emotional roller coaster, the people that sit around us and the football friendship/family. The ups, but mostly downs of the past 46 years of attending games, a lifetime.
Its just a shame the present incumbent does not get this and has employed and egotistical moron to run the business on his behalf.
Piss off your customers and soon you will have no customers and eventually no business.

We don't know if those are correct figures though, it's pure speculation. Perhaps trimming the squad as GA suggested he wanted means we've got room for quality over quantity and lads like Pointon, Cousin Dawson and Wadsworth will be used to fill the gaps when needed.

You are right of course, it is all speculation on our part, around current players salaries but the maths isn't.
22 players on £2000 per week average = £2.3 million playing budget, which equates to 9152, £250 adult season tickets.
Time will tell , but going on the messages on here, we will be extremely lucky to get any where near that amount.
Have the club not said , season ticket sales sets the playing budget and the commercial side covers everything else.

Not a chance we'll have a £3.4m budget, Wrexhams budget is over £4m this year, a L2 record. This season was £2.8m said Sparks in October and Rupps chat with a fan said similar so it's probably bang on. I reckon it will be similar maybe even a little less if renewals aren't great.

At the minute we're paying for about 30 pros (we have some out and some in on loan but doubt the NL clubs will be covering a lot, likewise we wont be covering PL/CH wages). But that works out on average at just under £1,800 per week and over £93K a year. In a 2020 leak, the average L2 player was on £80k a year or about £1,600 per week. I'd say with inflation we are probably paying average money in L2.... which has lead to a bang average squad. I reckon we have about a £2.5m budget next year but if we aim for a squad of 23/24 and trim the numbers but even at that budget with 24 players it's £2000 per week on average which is more than enough to build a promotion squad. We just need a good recruiter.

This kind of line gets used a lot.

Then there's the same for Gilliead.

Many people say similar about Chapman.

That's the problem. We lack people who can create chances. Said the same for the last two seasons. We don't create enough clear cut chances and we can't rely on scoring from the one or two we create every match.

None of Walker, Chapman, Gilliead, Smallwood, Oduor, McDonald, Wright have created enough chances for goals this year. We can't keep them all.

I'm also unconvinced on the 3-4-3 formation where the tactics are "lump it forward as quickly as possible in an aimless way". It strikes me that Alexander can't work out a formation and tactics for the group of players he has.

I was not suggesting the clubs playing budget is £3.4 million, just showing how things can add up trying to build this quality squad, if walker is on the supposed £4000 per week. As you say and i pointed out in other posts probably £2000 per week on average, which for a 22 man squad means selling approx 10000 adult season tickets.

It's easy to rack up a bill, especially if we keep getting the signings wrong. Harder getting players out than in these days.

Although I cant imagine Walker is on £4k a week. Cook is apparently our highest earner on £3k after his new deal in the summer. The 2020 summer after Vaughan had left, Sparks went on the Posh chairmans pod and said the days of Bradford City spending daft money on players are over and we had nobody on more than £1.5k-£2k a week. Cant imagine we then offered someone £4k a week within 18 months/2 years of that, especially as the squad size grew too in those seasons and all the talk has been around sustainability rather than growth.

Wouldn't be surprised if Walker, Smallwood, Cook are on between £2.5k-£3k a week, then a lot of lads on £1.5-£2k a week. I know someone who knows Vadaine Oliver and apparently he took a great offer here, turned down a southern L1 team to come back up for his family but City game him a great deal, i bet he's one of our top enders too.

What loss of pay ? Bonuses maybe, but there is no way footballers get SSP if they are injured. Poor loves.
