I'm thinking about the people who might die and the untold damage this thing could do to many others and society as a whole. Football is way down the pecking order.

Now, leaving aside the paper she writes for, shes a chairperson of a premier league club who's survival is at stake. This is what I'm talking about, lots of clubs will have their say on this.

 

No surprise she wants to void the season. Her latest disastrous managerial appointment hasn't worked and if west ham go down they're in huge trouble financially. If it goes to a vote for clubs in the PL and EFL, theres no way the majority would vote to void, I just can't see it.

 

Self interest comes into it. Theres common sense and what the majority would get behind, and then theres the legal complexity to it all. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

If it came to deciding final league positions based on current standings then I'm all for it. Nothing is 'fair' in this situation but such a move is probably fairer than any other. Of course City could argue that they were within a few points of a play off place but to be honest I don't think we've deserved a play off place anyway. It will be more unfortunate for teams that get relegated.

I honesty don't care. It's football. Football need to continue doing their jobs after 3 weeks. Fans don't need to be there.

 

You're not appreciating the seriousness of this Fordy. Footballers are human beings who have loved ones too.

I watched an interview earlier with an infectious diseases expert in the US, who's actively involved in analysing COVID-19. He stated that the latest data that the US has indicated that this virus is 10-15 times more lethal than the nasty strains of seasonal flu. The test cases they have show the viral load of infected people is 10,000 times higher than SARS. World is going into lockdown and this country isn't doing enough. Football doesn't matter. It's going to shut down for months and footballers, and the people who work within the industry have every right to protect themselves and their families just as everyone else does. Just look at the number of players/managers who've been confirmed as infected within the last 48 hours.

You've loved ones my point is everyone else has to go to work and do their job. Footballers should also.

When China had it solely they should have been a worldwide travel ban. Only now are countries shutting boarders. It's nuts. The leaders of this world have let us down. Now we all suffer because of greed.

Footballers need to carry on like the rest of us. Until a full lockdown.

A member of training team is self isolating and training has been suspended until 23 march.

Nonsense fordy. Tbe only people who'll be 'carrying working as normal' will be those who the country depend on for the essentials of life. Over the next few months we're all going to get a reality check on what really matters in life.

The figures from Italy here (from yesterday evening) show nearly 15,000 confirmed infections currently ongoing, just over 1200 dead and just over 1400 recoverd. So a mortality rate of more than 7%, not the 1-2% figures previously cited.

I've heard from an ex colleague based near Milan and he mentioned having watched an interview with a doctor from an intensive care unit at a badly affected hospital yesterday. He said it was like a war zone. Non-stop, beds filling as soon as they can clear them. And he reiterated that it is NOT just affecting the elderly - at the time of speaking they had a 27 year-old, a 37 year-old and a 41 year-old. There are already a number of fatalities in under 40s there.
